Good job!
i should start doing 2nd click then
I have posted here before on how good my FD1 Auto was on fuel economy. over the 2 1/2 years i owned the car I traveled 59,848 kms & used 4059.03 litres which is an overall average of 6.78L/100. The best recorded was 5.8L/100. 95% of the fuel used was Caltex 91 RON. I always fill to the neck & as much as possible fill up at the same tank each time. I could achieve 700km+ from 1 tank.
For those of you that think those figures are impressive, for the last 2 years I have owned a current model Euro Auto, to date I have traveled 33396km & used 2365.73 litres for an overall average of 7.08L/100. I can easily achieve 1,000km + from a 65 ltr Tank. Once again I always fill to the neck.
Best recorded so far is 6.23L/100. 99% caltex Vortex 95.
From my experience, I have been told that filling up the tank that high is bad for the charcoal canister? Guys at the driving school section of my work told me, don't know how accurate it is. But I never fill it too high.
They also told me smooth is safe! So even though sometimes I give it some, it's always smooth but fast....
If you don't fill to exactly the same spot each time, using the same petrol bowser, it is impossible to to take accurate fuel consumption readings. I have never had a problem with the charcoal canister.
it can vary considerably depending on the angle of the car, how fast your filling, each pump is different. to measure economy accurately, near enough is not good enough. that is why I keep spreadsheets of all fuel used & i know my figures are 100% accurate & taken over thousands of kms, not just 1 tank full.
^^ yours is all highway k's though and you drive like a great great great grandmother.
As I have told you before, 75% of my driving is Rural "B" class roads, there isn't a decent hwy within 400km of where I live. The other 25% is country town driving. I drive at whatever the posted speed limit is + 5kph using cruise control. I wouldn't call that grandma driving, Rather smart driving with no unwanted letters from hidden cameras.
Add to that, I was unaware you have seen the way I drive nor do I believe you know where I live.
I like your dedication to detail. I've been keeping tabs of this since new, so not just a tank of fuel. But do I keep spreadsheets, nope it's over the top for me. :)
Gee guess I wasn't doing that well... from what I recall owning the FD for 3 years, been filling Shell 98 all along... usually it averages around 400'ish per full tank. Mainly city driving and light foot on pedal.. but at times I do enjoy hearing the vtec kick in just for the fun:)
Consistent results.
613.8 klm's for 40.11 litres = 6.54 l/100km
man thats good.
im putting my stock rims back on for a long distance drive over xmass. keen to see what i get.
latest stats 644 kilometres for 41.67 litres
you must drive like a granny!
i only get around 10l/100kms Auto with 4 passenger combined highway/city
I have my 2007 Civic Sport....2.0 engine.....
i have recorded a few tanks over my last 2 months....
the records show like:
40L drives only around 350km (combine trip with city and highway)
3 tanks also give me a similar result.....and i fill with 98 fuel for these 3 tanks......
last week i try the 95 fuel, and you know, on the fuel meter inside our civic, there are 20 little square which indicates the fuel level...
i just had the trip driven 55km, but it took 4 square already.....=='
which means, the final km driven for this tank, would approximately be less than 300km.......
do u know where is the problem for such a ridiculous fuel consumption?
can i pass this matter to honda? as they claim that the fuel consumption is about 8.7km/100km....i believe they should have the responsiblity for the ridiculous fuel consumption....am i right?
Your consumption sounds terrible. From my experience e10 fuels seems give consistently high mileage. Give it a try. My last tank was 480km with 43L full on city driving...high revving and quick acceleration at most stops
Yes i drive a manual fd2. If yours is auto the consumption might be higher. I've never used 95 but when I use 98 I usually get the same or less mileage compared to e10
I think if it's not your driving habit to blame then there must be a problem with your car. Best to get the dealer to check it as we would only be guessing here
i heard that e10 is not so great a fuel for engines... anyway i get about 550kms from about 40L in my auto fd1 on premium 98. i get slightly lower results on 91 and 95.
i get much better from 98. got 660 out of the last tank.
i wouldnt touch e10. at all.
Don't know why you guys are so against e10 fuel. Any proof that it's bad?
i think it would be like drinking bong water as opposed to normal water.
Never drank bong water - care to enlighten us?
Anyawy, i've heard that the e10 is quite harmful to the fuel lines and things like that... Don't know the degree of truth to this, but yeah..
If it were true, I find it hard to digest why car makers recommend the use of E10, and why fuel companies would even market it in the first place.
I know it has a little to do with helping to decrease pollution in the environment and to help create a more sustainable future (fuel wise) but if it were detrimental to a car's components surely there would be some legislation against it being sold.
I also know for a fact that it may be harmful to older cars (pre 1986?) but from what I've heard it is absolutely fine for most modern fuel injected vehicles...
Like I mentioned earlier in this thread, I've used it since it was made available in all of my N/A cars and have yet to encounter problems. When I do you'll know!
so, the fuel consumption matter is also covered by the dealer?
i bought the car from a dealer, and have got the standard statutory warranty only. is it ok to ask them to check it out?
what about Honda? can i pass this to them even i havent got warranty from Honda?
Haven’t had it checked by the dealer runs perfectly though..bear in mind i drive in Melbourne stop start traffic daily..i reckon the consumption is in line with the type of driving i do..guys claiming 7-8 litres/100 kays are dreaming unless they spend the majority of time in 5th at 90k’s on a freeway
Manufacturers recommed ethanol to break your engines faster so you buy new ones. Conspiracy ftw!
Chichibo, go and see the dealer about it, you have no obligation to fix the problem. but you can get them to diagnoise it i'm sure..
also, is it just me, or do you seem to get lots of problems with your car?
i did a test ,v power oil fed ,daily use like min 60km/h -max 100km/h , every time the rmp reach 3000 and change to next gear, a full tank oil can run 550km
This doesnt comply to the thread seeming I own an ek and I'm
Getting 600+ kms to the tank :D
Includes various city driving and long distances throughout the week!
Fill up
On Premium and have been doing so for the past few weeks since taken ownership of the vehicle..
Every week I get more and more kms to the tank lol
dude , u better find a engineer to check it
chichichibo done any mods to your car?
Hi, no, no mods to my car.
U bought this car from a dealership at 62k driven, and I haven't done anything to it. And it looks stock anyway.
I am quite sure it is stock.
Btw, I saw sone aftermarket product saying the pouring into the engine and increase the fuel efficiency, is it ok to put this kind of product into the engine??
hhmmm, combined urban/rural driving, filling 42L i get 500kms which equals to between 8.4L/100 - 8.6L/100, filling 98 v power or bp ultimate,
however on 95 i get similiar k's/L, its abit laggy and not as responsive, far better than the 10L/100, i initially got :D
the figures aznboii got soound about right... Even my prelude's getting better consumtion than you, which is 100% wrong
Even my Porsche gets better consumption than you.
But that's probably about right.
Just pumped 40.63L second click and got 456.6km with full hooning today lol
Just pumped 32 litres (for nearly 50 bucks damn it) second click and did 403.7km on the last tank.
drives like a hybrid LOL
I'm always getting 400-410kms per tank. Not too bad I guess...
Just got around 10.2L/100km. Car was hardly driven. tank lasted 4 weeks
just filled my car with fuel today, 592 kms used 39 litres of fuel = 6.5l/100 kms !!! :D

wow clayton4115 that's an odd looking civic FD you have there :P
lol all i know its a 2005 civic gli sedan !
r u auto or man engee? 400ks wow thats bad..
i hav manual fd1 get 550 average. more if i baby it, if i highway a lot >600 easy
r u auto or man engee? 400ks wow thats bad..

my gf always gets 6.5 l/100 in her 7th gen
guys if you do mostly short distance driving , lots of stop-start traffic work etc or drive laot with the AC on you will get terrible fuel economy. That much is true. For example my EP3 gets about 400 max out of a tank (42l) around town (2kms to work 2kms back again 5 days a week) and normal weekend driving to shops etc. On the open road you can increase that considerably....best sofar out of a tank is 690kms with the fuel gauge line sitting exactly on E
Yeh that's totally true, i mean if there was a section start-stop jammed motorway, you'd spend probably 40% of the highway's distance accelerating, opposed to accelerating only once from the onramp
and then cold engine driving also drinks fuel
Last tank wasn't as good...422.3km and pumped 38litres 2nd clicky
im on 1/2 way now and its 375kms
i drive 3/4hwy to work then rest is slow city driving. bout 25k's each way
this cant be true.. my brother took my car to orbost around 400km from melbourne..
and he averaged 10ltr/100km.. and he does not accelerate quick or even speed.. hes a steady driver kinda like a grandma.
That does not add up warwick, he either had to drive it like it was stolen or didn't start with a full tank. I had an FD1 Auto for 2 1/2 years, traveled 59,848km & used a total of 4,059.03 Lts. My Calculation tells me that I averaged 6.78L/100km over that distance with a best recorded of 5.8 l/100.
For the last 27 months I have owned a current model Euro Auto & have traveled 35900 as of my last fill using a total of 2542.81 Lts. That equates to an average of 7.08L / 100
i seriously do think there is a problem with my civic, i keep getting horrible figures.
ive driven to rye and other places like that, and i average 10lt/100km. and i dont thrash my car at all, i might hit vtec once or twice but i drive it with care..
although ive upgraded from 15 inch to 16 inch rims, thats probably where my extra 3 litres / 100km went.. lol
i have 17s on my car. we are in vtec between 1-3000 so not sure what ur talking about when u say ur hitting vtec once or twice? .. unless your not talking about fd civic?
I updated to 16's on my FD1 auto as well, so discount that as being your problem. Ivtec is automatically engaged under 3200RPM under light throttle / engine load conditions on the FD1.
silly me.. my mistake.. what i ment to say was, i barely go over 3000rpm.. only do it once or twice during a full tank.. =S.. unless it eats like 10litres of fuel every time i go over 3000rpm.. then i dont see why it chews through petrol so much
Hey guys,
Just thought I would put my 2 cents in.
I have a 2009 FD2 Sport. I get 450-470 up until all the fuel lights are out and red warning light is on. When I fill up, 2 clicks, I put in around 41-42 litres.
Therefore I estimate to easily get 500+ on a tank. I'm happy filling up every 460-470 as my SSS Pulsar was lucky to hit 400.
Anyways, this is 100% Sydney peak hour driving only. No highway's no country. When I take it down South I'll give you an updated figure. I reckon 600+. Oh, and normal driving, not driving like a grandma.
Sounds just like me hazza
i also get very bad fuel consumption,
always get 450kms per tank with 98
btw, mine one is Fd1 with 17" rims
maybe always have two people in the car :)
I can drive 5 people and still achieve pretty much the same consumption. The other week I had 120kg of flour in my boot and still got 480km on 44L city driving
Bro, I am more interested in why you were driving with 120kg of flour in your boot. hehehe
u a baker? or was that real flour...;)
I'm a manager at a supermarket and sometimes other stores need transfers of stock so I deliver...but for that week I was too busy to go and couldn't be bothered taking it out of the boot. I eventually delivered though ;)
I put petrol in my new VTi LE (manual) for the first time last week. It had done 300Km and took 20L of regular unleaded. So that's 6.67L/100Km on a brand new engine, driving around Melbourne suburbia/freeways with a somewhat heavy footed driver. Once the engine has worn in, I'd expect that figure to improve.
Incidentally the fuel gauge was showing half, suggesting it covers 40L (20L / 0.5 = 40L) with 10L to spare (giving a total of 50L) as others have mentioned.
