has any1 else purchased the carbon look grill? ...tried to put it on today..but the holes for the clips sorta dont match up and the clip doesnt go all the way through...if that makes sense...
is it the mugen grill or the stock style grille but in carbon?
My latest mod (thanks to some inconsiderate prick @ sunnybank): A nice paint chip off my drivers door :( had the car for over a year dent and scratch free.. I wanted to do the first scratch myself.. not some fat arse prick who needs half a parking space to get out of their lemon... hate car parks.
The pricks at honda parts haven't gotten back to me regarding touch up paint ... so pissed off.
lol.. at least you didnt have someone run over the top of your car..
i still have a dent in my roof and on my bonnet.
holy crap, how fat was that person... or were they jumping all over it? =/.
geeze ih ope the day some prick does this to my car im there to catch him/her right in the act... hahaha.
WAD?run over the top of your car??
WTF!
yeah sigh's. it was the last day before i lost my license. so 1 more day and it would have been garaged and fine.
bl mark! but doesnt beat my front and rear scratches from other ****ers around sunnybank hitting my car and not saying shit..
paint my calipers plx, mark! :D
first mods to the car today, celebratin the car reaching 1000km on its odometer lol. Skunk2 Radiator cap, Skunk2 short shift adaptor and Skunk2 gear knob!!! feels so much better comparing to the stock shift travel, having to reach out for the 1st gear...
wow what yr model is it lol? 08 or 09?
its a 09 FD2, sorry i was using my mates account for the post just then, didnt switch users...
are those short shifters easy to install. i wouldnt mind making the changes shorter.
where'd u get the skunk2 short shifter?im interested!
it was a fairly easy installation, its not like other new hondas where u hav to change the whole shift box, but on the FD, only a small adaptor is added to make the shift travel alot smaller, i was surprised when i open the box but it does wat i want lol
got em from 999automotive in brisbane, adam is the person to speak to!!! giv him a ring or PM (forum sponsor) 999 is distributor for heaps of aftermarket brands for honda! top service and great price!!!
LOL, Adam was showin me the Skunk2 Pro S coilover and the Cusco zero GT for my FD2, very nice but wont be gettin them till i find a new job -_-
CUSCO ZERO GT!! f!@# i wanted to get that
how much is he sellin em for?
2150 i believe
SKUNK 2 Short shifter adapter....pls inform me on the price and how do i get my hands on em??
look under trader '999' up here in bris.. i think its $99 / $199 cant remember which
how much shorter is the throw watermonmo? - and if you dont mind me asking where bouts in bris you live? metro area like not too far from city etc or like woop woop? i wanna get interest on a little fd meet n greet
ej20i - its better to contact adam from 999 for an accurate pricing, ask him for the skunk2 knob aswell! they work well together.
the shift travel is only reduced by around 20% as stated on skunk2.com which is y i like it so much, not too short and it gives a more accurate feel when engaging gears.
.k. - i live in Algester, near Sunnybank hills, FD meet n greet sounds great, but im travellin overseas on friday so wont be in brisbane for a month or so, but will definately stay online and share the parts i buy while im in HongKong!!!
omg always wanted to go to hk.. have fun mate and i'll organise something for when u come back :D
QUICK QUESTIONS... i did a search and couldnt find much.. this relates to handling
Front Strut braces
is it better to get a 3p brace (connect from the 2 towers to the front.. lik the cusco front brace) or the 2p brace (connect only the 2 towers.. lik ultra racing and hypertec front braces) ?? Any big differences?
Sway bars
Also another question.. for FF cars like our FDs .. is it better to only get a rear sway bar or is it necessary to get both front and rear sway bar for the car to be balanced??
im using cusco 3 pt and its not really that great.
front feels a bit stiffer on track but mounting points used are crap.
the tower mounts are strong but the front radiator frame mount is crap.
the front radiator frame is something like a 2 mm aluminium plate which literally flexes if you twist with your arms.
Id personally go a 2 point if you must buy one but other than that id save your money and buy sway bars imho.
im using a two points rite now, the mounting point i have to say i was disapointed...its not the usual mounting points on the strut tower top but next to it on top of the stock strut bar
u can take a look at my diy, i did a diy on fd front strut
can you link us? I would like to see how the mounting points differ
Get the rear sway bar first as it will provide a more direct turn-in. I'm planning to get one very soon.. The strut can wait IMO
cusco actually has 2 diff front strut bar for the FD, the other one is 2 point for the type R but i assume it'll fit the audm FD2. the purpose for a strut bar is to balance the front strut and transfer the force from one strut top to another so i dunno how it is done with the 3 point style, but at the end i wouldnt question cusco's design.
sway bar is said to be one of the most effective mod for a car's handling, for a FF car, rear sway bar upgrade is more important, u can get both F and R at the same time but never get the F without the R.
U will lose the turn in response with front sway bar however the car will corner flatter. If u planning to get one get the rear sway bar first. U will feel the difference immediately. On normal daily driving turning will be more comfy as u can feel the rear is alot flatter and joins with the front. However the car will be slightly bumpier. I have ultra racing 16mm cause I heard the 19mm or higher will fk the endlinks then u have to weld the bar onto the car. The front strut bar itself wont make much diff compared to rear sway bar. I have both on mine and I'm satisfied with it for a daily car. I won't bother with other bars, if u want to take it to the next level just get a set of coilovers then you are done with handling mods
^ all good info, and i agree 100% just buy a set of coilovers if you want the best bang for buck.
touche guys
i've already ordered in coilovers and see how the handling goes first... just wanting to know about extra handling features lik strut braces and sway bars.
i believe for the cusco sway bars its.. Front 28mm and Rear 23mm ... is there a limit to the width size of ONLY putting on a rear sway bar (e.g limit to 19mm on the rear, anything above that i would need to put in the front sway bar???)
theres no limit, i wont recommend a front sway bar anyway for FF cars, you want the rear to be stiffer than the front.
larger rear sway bar = more oversteer. as i mentioned above,Front strut bar and RSB is all you need to match with your coilovers, other bars are just a waste of money.
keep in mind that anything bigger than 16mm for RSB will fk your endlinks. unless you want it permanently by welding it on.
oh so the cusco 23mm will fk the endlinks? but its not recommended to upgrade endlinks by cusco... lucky i read this, just ordered j's racing strut brace was about to order cusco RSB too, better find out more first...
hey mark how much was ur new CAI? I am on a typhoon K&N SRI at the moment and it uses WAY too much fuel without enough takeoff performance ot even decent improvement till about 5k RPM. Are u worried about water getting into your CAI at all? Especially if it's been lowered.
Also, on another note, does anyone know if 8 width tyres fit on the Civic FD1 (8th gen) when the car's been lowered? I have 7.5 at the moment and they almost look fat enough, I'm thinking if I put 19s with 40 profile I'm going to have to get the guards beaten to allow for pot holes and standard suspension movement.
intakes with longer n smaller pipe = less max power gain but better for mid rpm torque
intakes with shorter n bigger pipe = more max power gain but will sacrifice low - mid rpm torque a bit. but since the piping is so short, u get more direct air flow n responsive if u suddenly step onto the accelerator.
but overall, unless u put it on dyno with the results in numbers, u probably wont feel a diff, as i've tried a number of intake in my old car and the biggest difference was high rpm with a SRI n the response when i step on n off the accelerator, dat was about it...
anyone know what the law in SYDNEY is about rear license plate lights? can they be blue? or does it have to be white or yellow? don't want to be defected lol

anyone know what the law in SYDNEY is about rear license plate lights? can they be blue? or does it have to be white or yellow? don't want to be defected lol
help!!!
yeah so many hk people, but theres quite a few indos around too hehe =D.
thanks iversonruls, u r very right, topracing being the best i reckon and they ar also the authorised GTR35 service centre here in hk, good price for all jdm parts, sumtimes man autopart is cheaper but too hard to get there with out drivin...
i got the HID XX from japan too, was there for a few days and the parts ar alot cheaper comparing to anywhere in HK! bought sunauto parts from topracing though and goin to visit them again tmr to get HKS panel filter! its only 330HKD!!!
yay~~ go another HK driver in FD lol~~
hey Kevin XD~~
go MK style mateXD
shit... HKS panel filter for FD2? **** i want one.....
i went to top racing few years ago and bought a Apexi AFC Neo there.. price is not much different compare to malaysia.. lol.. but that was a in rush.. bro iversonruls.. u now at hk? help us organize a group buy if things are cheap there.. =)
hey wayne! does the AFC neo work on our FD2?
no idea.. i used it on my other car at malaysia.. not FD.. =)
ok i got a question.... how much mileage are u guys getting out of 95/98 RON fuel? On a full tank im only getting around 250k kms... which i feel is pretty shit =.=... on an fd2 btw... auto.. and i dont drive around with a heavy foot, or with aircon for that matter..
anyone know if i should be worrying?
yeah u should be worrying LOL..
i drive manual on 98octane. getting around 600-650km's.
i've been on 98, VTI auto and i'm getting around 400ish.
Pretty heavy foot and aircon every now and then.
I'm considering dropping down to 95 and testing that for a while to see if there's any difference.
hmm 250km on a full tank is def not right haha
around 500ish on mine with bp ultimate since new.
civic sport manual, intake and exhaust mod.
WTF?!?!?!? hmm.. anyone got any ideas of what it could be? maybe theres a leak into somewhere that i can't see? =/...
^what sort of driving do you do? I've gotten 250 a tank with almost 100% city driving
i get around 500-550 before fuel light comes on? normal? - using crappy 91ron unleaded..
well, i don't drive far. Daily i go about 10-15km, with like 5-7 one way and 5-7 the other way, and thats in like normal suburban traffic, nothing like city or anything. Would that make a big difference? Cant imagine it would cut the mileage to half though...
Hmm, well for the other guys who are getting 400-500 a tank, what driving you guys do most the time? I'm guessing short bursts of driving would reduce the mileage capacity.
mine's 100% city, only have the mugen panel filter so far.
exhaust is probably coming soon.
i used to get 500 easy before the light came on (stock) and ever since i started modding it's gone less efficient...maybe coz im more heavy footed with the mods? haha...i dunno...but 250km seems too little...my friends gtr r32 gets 300 out of a tank and that's turboed and badly tuned.
I get at the MIMIMUM 500 on a full tank and thats not being a fairy... if ur getting 250 there is seriously something wrong...
ehhhhh. shit. what u guys suggest i do? bring it in to the dealer and ask them to check it out?
Probably around 100kms out of the 500 at most..
ahh ok, that's pretty good.
black8thgen: how many k's have you done on the car? i wouldn't worry too much if it hasn't done around 15000k's.
oh, well its still new.. done 2400ks... is that meant to be normal? my first car so yeah not so sure about it =/..
ah sweet cheers mate
bleh.. my 14.4l/km still seems bit too high tho lol =[...
wow, thats way too high comparin to factory's 8.6L/km? what happened? u shud really ask honda bout it!
even if your car is still running in...it shouldn't be that bad...i still got around 500km per tank...wierd man...get it checked i reckon
hmm. fkkkk. i think i will check it out. iread someone got 13L/km at first but then it got to about 8 later on.. so maybe thats all it is. Because i reckon if i go to the dealer they'll just tell me its meant to happen and push me away =.=
latest mod - pay tow truck driver to drive car 8ks and paid $50.. sigh
cracked radiator ^_^ should be fixed up this week + they need to fix my brakes cos they're making noises
