125 in a 4 stroke is actually dangerous on the road. literally no power band or power to keep up and out of the way of traffic.
The RS125 is dearer, but you get what you pay for. It has a better build and carries years of R&D via 125-GP. Forget Sumoto, anyone that buys from them hasnt done their homework, I would rather pay $4000 for a CBR250 which is still a better bike than a CBR125... its like picturing a CT110 with a bodykit...
And imagine doing that for 3 years!
Anybody anything about Megelli 250R's? They look rather good besides that, has somebody driven one?
Taken from kawariders... http://www.kawariders.com.au/showthr...8-Megelli-250r

Well i got a megelli 250 R nd it sht itself 58k's from the shop..am so Not happy.
the mech said it had a hole in the very center of the piston!! that was 2weeks ago..I'm still waiting for my bike
but after riding it, their a far better bikes for learners..CBR125 is smoother on gear change, handling etc.
Not looking too good...Quote:
Hi everyone, i thought i would post my experiences of the Megelli 250r. Firstly i work at a motorcycle dealership on the Sunshine Coast and we have recently gotten a few of these to see how they go.
As a few of you may know they are a 230cc Chinese bike and they live up to all the plastic expectations, they may look good in photos but so does the cbr125. It is a piece of P@@.
The bike almost looks good but it just has something wrong, the dash is very small! i found it very novel and unuseful. all the controls are hard to use and have to be visually checked to make sure you've done what you intended to do. Sitting on the bike doesnt improve things too much seat position is relatively low (i'm 5'8") and bars aren't very far away but quite low. Moving off is more off sound then feel as the clutch gives you nothing and is the same all the way through, once moving around at slow speeds manouvers are near on impossible due to something in the rake and front end, the bars just want to move side to side which with some familiarisation with the bike may be cured but it wasn't a nice start to the ride.
Once on the road the massive lack of power and accelleration was immediately obvious, there was no real power burst throughout the rev range and the bike struggled to rise through the revs, in any gear! The engine was screaming at me doing 60 in 3rd and when changing through the gears it was more a game of release the clutch and hope the gear had changed as there was absolutely no feel through the pedal. The position of the gear selector is terrible requiring my whole foot to raise off the footrest to select up. The rear brake is similarly high requiring your foot and ankle to be in a very awkward position to use the rear brake, this made covering the rear brake very hard. Performance of the brakes is limited and rather lacking, it's a good thing the bike will only get to about 115k/h. My first experience of the front brakes was a scary one, having been cut off but a Commodore i instictively got on the brakes and luckily found what seemed to be sufficient enough decelleration to avoid an accident however i was no where near impressed with the stopping power or feel of the brakes. At no point did i get to test the tyre performance as the road was slightly slippery and i had no intention of coming off.
Summing up, for $5999 on road and service intervals of every 3000kms after the first service at 500kms i would be looking elsewhere, used ninja 250r or similar. I ride a 09 Ninja 250r and have just clocked 10,000kms on it and it is a wonderful bike, working at a bike store i get to ride a few things and the ninja is by far the best 250 learner bike out there, much more options in terms of tyres and enough power to have a bit of fun not to mention looks the goods. The Megelli is the opposite!
yeah ninja 250r is good :) its not as fast as cbr250rr but come on its newer n looks better
the seat is abit higher than cbr250rr but its a nice bike to ride around
full insurance only 700 bucks too from qbe for 7.5k :)
on the other hand 1.1k for cbr250rr and they only giv agreed value of 4.7k cant really go higher than that
My first bike was an 08 ninja 250r. after breaking in the engine i came to this conclusion: sux balls
I even installed a yoshimura cf on it and it sounded ghay.
quickly moved on to a 96 cbr250rr and never looked back.
I know the ninja is newer and fairly cheap, but come on it stinks for performance...
Hey all,
Wife and I recently got our 'Ls'. We are looking at getting bikes, second hand, by the end of the year. We had noticed that bikes are cheaper and more plentiful in Sydney, we are from Melb.
Would it be worth getting bikes in Sydney and then registering them here in Melb? Does anyone know how much it would cost to re-register a Sydney bike for Melbourne?
Cheers
My 2 Cents..
I have had my Aprilia RS125 for about 8 months now and I love this thing to bits. Everything has its plus' and minus' and I am sure this has been outlined for the RS many a time all over the net and possibly even here. So I am just going try my best to share my experience with you.
Before I do, the first thing you have to realise about owning a bike is that most often or not, owning one is an emotional choice. You would rarely buy a bike because it is your most practical transport option...
I dont think there is any other LAMS bike that feels like the RS when you slip the clutch juuuuust right and feel and hear the powerband come on sweetly. Every time you feel it reach the peak you punch up the gears without uncocking your wrist off the throttle...then you see the next corner explode in your vision and you blip the throttle and down shift whilst squeezing the brembos and you feel the front shocks and chasis respond perfectly right before you pitch and blow out of apex...
The only thing that I could imagine coming close would be to snort some of columbia's best off your frigit ex girlfriends D Cups then turning her around and hearing her moan "I am a slut" every time she orgasms whilst you slap her ass and pull her hair.....
