yea its tuned, drives so well feels like a normal car again. it made 145hpatw at 6 psi with 170wtq. will be interesting to see how it goes down the quater as is. at this stage im going to keep it on 6 psi. feels way better to drive though and still got a fair bit of get up and go. o well 1/4 time will be interesting. honestly though fully over the whole thing which is why atm im not interested in boosting it more im just happy to have it driving nice and reliable and i dont want to spend anymore on boost controller. still have to thank all the people who have helped me out, dynodave and barefoot mainly, also james at hondatech has been good. (these are the pros that apparently i dont listen to according to popadoc) still for the price i paid for the engine conversion and turbo its a nice package and it will give me a little bit of fun. in other words im happy so i dont care if you arnt :D ps as for reliablitity popadoc. one drive in this thing would change ur might, drives like a bought one :)

fact still remains, basic turbo kit with no boost controller = nearly double the stock power of a D16
ps i have seen a fair few B series on a dyno and none of them with basic mods got more then 108....
so comes back to for 5000 whats better, turbo what u got of do a conversion then some basic mods...
remember its alot easier now for me to gain power then a B series NA. for a turbo set up to gain more power u really just have to wind up boost y0 and make sure the care can still handle it reliable
Most, NA b16 with intake and/or exhaust were pullin that figure at the dyno day at mercury.
Stock engine cars were pullin about 92 - 95 (ie my car and others).
Either way, your car is built for you and if thats the way you want it then thats the way it will be. Don't worry about pleasing the haters.

i no some pulled close to it, mickos pulled a 104 from memory and that b series has abit done to it. either way like i said im happy. drives so nicely, hitting boost feels good :D

i think the most boost i would be willing to put in it would be 8 to 9. which would defantly give it a bigger kick. but honestly no desire to boost it more atm. drives so nice defantly a perfect setup for a daily driver.

The skyline turbo is designed to run efficient at a higher psi, put it up dude, the turbo has a lot left in it, its just the engine itself.
You wouldnt want to boost it up too much with a ceramic turbo.
yeh mate... a s13 i owned last year had a stock standard rb20 with standard turbo and we ran it on 12psi... driven daily :) no probs at all. wouldnt put it any higher though
i know the turbo can handle more..... look at chris's bmw with the rb20det, stock turbo running 15psi.... **** it flies now. as i said right now im happy, im sure later on down the track the speed wont be enough but for now my sights are set on different things. got 2 months left and the car needs a respray and a few other things for autosalon.... that what my eyes are set on, speed is great but its not everything, whats the point in having a fast car if it looks like a shit box. so yea atm.... all money going to respray and the other few things for salon. when i do get a boost controller i want a dual stage one so i can run 6 psi most of the time... o well for now 6psi is all it has u guys are just ganna have to accept it till i build my money back up... boost controller i want isnt cheap :D. i do have a manual boost controller in the shed but dont want to use that one.

Aza has ur engine been rebuilt? pistons, rods..etc? if not i dont recommend you run more then 8 psi for the sake of the life of the engine...
mate its not how much boost u run its the power u make with that boost. as long as i dont go well over 200hp (250hp max) im not even ganna think about doing internals. like i said i want a dual stage boost controller so i would only be running that for short periods rest of the time i will be back on my 145hp

Area under the curve. Have u seen his dyno plot? Peak power at 5500rpm, and a fat torque curve that peaks at 4500rpm. Peak power is such a narrow minded view.

To give you guys some more examples, i turbocharged my GF's D16Y8. 10psi of boost from a modded T28 (bigger turbines) stock internals. we produced 158kw to the wheels and she drove it for well over 6months as a daily driver with no problems (I then decided to all out and do a rebuild for more power).
The only thing that i would recommend is that you buy the ARP headstuds for the engine as through my research, D16Y head bolts tend to stretch under boost (apparently a common problem in the States). Prime symptoms for this are your radiator spewing fluid out and overheating.

Well over 6 months? If i boosted my car i would expect it to run for a longer period than 6 months. I'm not having a go at you. A full rebuild lets you run more boost and also increases the engines reliability, I'm guessing thats why you did it instead of leaving it internally stock.

bit of an update for u guys. took the civic for its first run on the track yesterday. was also my first time ever on a strip. can tell u i still need alot of practise on my luanches to bring my times down. the car is defantly capable of faster. running 14.8 atm. last night was more just abit of a test to get some practise behind the wheel and also see how much i need to boost it to have a chance of reaching my aims. the 14.8 was done in full street trim with the chromies and spare tyre and everything :D. anyway i will post a pic of the time slip.
but now more exciting news....
in less then 2 hrs i will have a Greddy Profec-B II boost controller. this is a dual stage boost controller which will allow me to switch between 2 levels of boost. Now atm its only running a measly 6 psi (14 second car on 6 psi woot....) which i am going to keep as the first level for daily driving. but then at the press of a button it will be boosted to 10 psi so that should give it abit more of a kick ;)
The boost controller is going in on saturday. the car is going the the mechanics on wednesday to fix the vaccum/idle problem. and the following saturday it will be back on the dyno to get tuned to 10psi by dynodave.
Big week coming up so lets hope i can get closer to my aim of a 13.999 or faster quater time in full street trim. Im sure at 10psi the car will be capable of it.... might just come down to me needed to do more practise.
Anyway pics of ebc and time slip will be posted later tonight. Stay tuned.
