Lol. Cr kais hot replaced by painting stockies. Aiming high now... I hope lol
Hi Guys, hoping to get some advise...
I've got Work Emotion CR Kai's on my FD that I just bought. According to the ex-owner specs are
17x7.5 +25 Front with 215/45/17
17x8.5 +33 Rear with 225/45/17
The offset on the front seems really low, but that is not the problem... problem is the rear. The car is on Tein springs and it scrubs when taking hard corners, large pot holes and with ppl in the back (usual causes).
I have already rolled the guards on the rear, but they still scrub.
I am thinking of getting camber kits + coils, even then will the scrubbing be fixed? Or should I just change rims? and what spec on a 17 would be ideal?
Thanks!
I think you need a bit of camber. Screw getting new rims, so troublesome.
Can we have a fitment pic?
man thats some fkn crazy specs! show us some pictures
the problem might be is you're scrubbing the rear bar (the area where the screws holds the rear bar into place), that's where i'm scrubbing essentially
solution:
1) camber kit + coils but no guarantee that will solve your problem depending on how low/high your ride height is
2) chuck a 215 on the rear and see how that goes
3) get new rims, ive ran x7.5+42 fronts with a 225 and 8.5+42 rear with a 235 without any problems
lowered + rimmmin

hope u likey
Haven't taken any photos of the car, so I'll re-use what he posted. I believe you guys would have seen this FD before, I did read about the scrubbing issue he was having somewhere, but had no idea it would still scrub after rolling guards.

This is current - The rims have been re-sprayed.
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/e...c/IMG_2319.jpg
@ Stig - Actually still scrubbing on the rear bar and the guard. Ride height would be maintained at the current height if changing to coils cos I've got to cross a freaking huge hump everyday and don't want to lower anymore than it already is.
evolution, just change new rims yo!
those are crazy offset
for a daily just get a safer offset some where between +40 and +45 would be ideal
Danny that looks great!
I'll high beam you when i see you :P
for a daily, the specs on those rims are just too much, even my t1s is giving me such a headache daily, hence i run stock rims sometimes :)
I just pulled my fronts off - 17x7.5+30.
Thanks for the input guys.. Is there a reason why a Civic would need staggered rims rather than 4 rims that are the same specs? Is it because the rear of the car is wider?
If I'm getting new rims, I would prefer to get 4 of the same so that I can rotate them around.
hi, just another noob question :D what spec should i look for for hassle free rims, (please dont answer stock rims :D i already know that will fit). Mostly concerned about the offset atm cus looking at you guys getting all this issues. want something 17" or 18" but need to know what offset and 17or18/?? +?? value for both front and back. thx
Something like 18x8 +45 or 18x7.5 +42 is fine without hassles. Safe specs
All the issues can be fix. It's just the matter on how far you're willing to fix it.
^^ same goes with 17s.
safe offset is around the +40s, provided that u dont go wider than 8" on the rim.
u can fit lower offset and wider rims on the car, but it will just cost u more money to run them with minimal scrubbing. low offset and stretched tyres looks tough tho :p
i've got 18x8 +40 with 225/40 tyres and get minimal scrubbing only on the left side... it annoys the shits through me but thats only if you corner hard/tight bends
so just drive safe ;)
sorry to say but,
18x8 +45 is going to be worse off then 18x7.5 +42.
Also running a 18x8 +45 your going to run into problems if your not at stock ride height. i know for a fact the stock perches on a fd will hit the tire if its not thin enough. yes i know half of us run coils but the people running the spring option which is lower then 1" will find it scrubs on the front.
The difference may seem small between those two specs given, 9mm inner clearance and 3 mm outer but 1 cm inner clearance might be easier to fix, but when you run spacers to fix that problem your going to run into other problems.
Most of people looking for the ideal fit arent going to run silly tire specs so and choose to have the standard fitment.. so
my suggestion is to run 17 or 18x7.5 or 8 +35~40 if u can find it. with a 215/40 profile. im sure others will back me up on this.
p.s. please don't take offense to this.. its just my opinion.
yeh dez is right - after doing lots of reading up on dez/stig's experiences...seems those r the safest fitments lol.
just checked ems post!
rims have landed in sydney and in customs! only a matter of time yay!
http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...y/tease1-1.jpg
can u work it out ^^
p.s. wowowow!!
fronts are 225/40 on 18x10
rears are 205/40 on 18x8.5

and then u see his track rims.. argghhh !! i always wanted a set of RE30's
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2775/...1e8098d932.jpg
lol none taken man. uve been thru more sets than i. but ive ran 8" +45 on my car as a test from one of my friends wheels n had no probs on them. perhaps my coils allowed for more inner clearance? *shrugs*
a question on running stretched tyres. is it legal to have them if the load rating meets the requirements of the car? cant remember what our ones are 91Y or somthing?
lets say i have a 9" wide rim and i place some 215 wide tyres, but with a load rating of like 93. is that ok? or will cops still bust my balls?
are they meisters dez?? fk u baller !!!
and yeh load rating is 91 something, not sure how it changes according to the tyre specs... i remember someone before told us all about it.. mark from brisbane or smoething??
and holy shieeet stretched as tyres?????
they arent meisters ;)
although i would like kits bbs though...
another set of t1s on fd?
Skunk2 in action

trade your 9.5 for my 8 :p
Hawtttttt.
do i need camber alignment if i changed the stock springs to tein stech??
LOL so really ! another set of T1S for FD
ahahha
hey Dez!
next time while you are looking for wheels
can you see if you can source another set of t1s in 20" 112x5
i miss them too
LOL
o.o u own a mercedes now, kevin? or is there another car brand using 5x112 also?
nah, I drive an Audi now, they are 112 x 5 as well.
just another question will 97 prelude wheels fit in the civic fd1?
i think is
5X144 16X6.5 +55 i think this is the Tyre size 205/50 R16 87V tires
http://images.craigslist.org/3nf3kc3...6731be1008.jpg
i have matched them up with the back wheel look about the same but the tire is about 1" ~ 1.5" wider but too lazy to take my wheels off to check cus only have 3atm in the garri lolz.
should be 5 x 114.
They should fit but the offset will be terrible (I know cause I use accord rims as dailys haha and they are +55 IIRC)
yo, guys this is out of topic randomly, but can anyone tell me what these hoses are for as i need to know asap. regards to intake arm for FD2
http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/7...mintakearm.jpg
im assuming that 1 of them is a breather.
Also is it possible for these two hoses to be connected to 1 with a T-piece connector?
any one seen bbs wheels one a fd b4? and how does ppl feel? well this is an example of one on a GTR35.
http://www.vividracing.com/forums/ga...2039e3cf_b.jpg
thinking i might be able to get away and spend less money buying a cheaper brand and do a dyi gold spray :D

my car with silver bbs lm, black center caps
http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...0112009246.jpg
sorry for bad pictures.
how much did it ended up costing for the gold ones? and what are the spec, did you have to do any alterations or did they come with hassle free spec which you mentioned about earlier ?
The wheels i go for aren't exactly the "hassle free ones", new rims are Fx8.5 +25 and Rx9.5 +30 :|
Both sets of LM's you see above the gold and the silver ones, were both 18x8 +35 and 18x9 +35.
The gold set cost me $3200, and the Silver set cost me a little more.
On the gold ones i ran 225/40r18 tire. And this scrubbed MAJORLY on the rear and front without any body work. By body work i just mean rolling the rears and a tiny bit of pulling and also cutting some of your front guards out of the way and pushing the prong things upwards.
In the end, i sold them cos i cbf hearing the screeeeppp every time i went over a pot hole.
Silly me missing the LM's, i ended up buying the same specs in silver which i still run to this day.. but instead of running the 225/40 i got a tire change to a 215/40r18. and no scrubbing.
i actually had my LM's up for sale not long ago, but i decided to keep them for the track =].. If you want a nice fitment, i'd choose kitbkk's LM's his are 18x8.5 +35 and 18x9.5+35 and in the silver too.. all the other ones you see on this forum have shit offsets and have gutter rash here and there.. i mean whats the point in buying new rims which look used ;)
p.s. if you like the look of the LM"s
just remember there are other alternatives like the SSR LM9, Work VS-XX, HRE 790-R, iFOrged Challenge or Neo or Triumph, a few Beyerns, etc..
hey ekdez, Ive been looking at the wheels with the deep dish, do i still look for the same offset or they are completely different?
yea they will
i use to ride on em
and i got a set that im trying to get rid
you wont get "deep dish" on a civic fd.
its just a fact of life. Honda's weren't made for "deep dish", if you wanted that grab a nissan or a lexus etc..
having said that they can get very close.. but just remember some body work will be needed.
wait till i get my new rims and ill show you.
i know there is a guy on this forum, threesix, and his rims have a credit card length of dish on the rear and a bit more then half on the front =]
curious to know how much stig or ivan have tho..
ehh~ i was trying to find this post, never knew its a sticky now =]
ekdez, your dp stole all my attention from the FDs =P
=O whered u get pics of my gf from?!?!
the day she came over to my house and lay in my bed ;)
ok back on topic LOL
LOL oh snap
i saw that coming... or she did? ;)
Ouch =[. Haha. Dw man sharing is caring =]. Anyways... Getting new intake tmrw yay lol
lol what intake u get?
You can, it's just depends on the design of the rims like Ivan's Estatus D2 and how much camber you want to have. My camber was -6.5 when i set my camber kit to the max in order to avoid scrubbing on my RB1 and my rear wheel is 20x9.5 +15 with 10cm dish. Or flare the guard if you don't want to have camber wear. So anything could be done.
got simoto CB2 - the new carbon charger hehe and connecting cold air feed, hopefully get some response out of it
^did you consider injen sri ?
nah no engine light, it was just plug and play all the way. lol yea i got it from shift
Ah nice. Me too lol. Hey can u take a close up engine bay pic of the intake for me pls? Thx!!!
hey, heres some pic of the intake
http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/500/img0151ok.jpg
and here's the cold air duct
http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/6126/img0152i.jpg
i haven't actually fitted the cold air duct properly as it is connected to the OEM resonator. i have to find a spot at the front bumper somewhere to put the duct but i have foggies which i dont wanna get rid of.
I'm puttig it to foggies anyway. Should be ok still. Btw where's ur mini blue filter thing???or didn't use it?
yeah i already know and understand that.. but the rims he put up. the 20" LM's on the GTR.. LM's are race wheels and are flat faced and to achieve any sort of "dish" with LM's you'd have to go rather wide. and low offset.
which is why i said look at the LM9's or the VS-XX
But with VIP styled wheels its not that hard to achieve a decent dish. different kettle of fish all together =]
