after awhile does it start up again?
any other information? Could also be your ignition switch. Hondas are pron for that
Sorry to hi-jack but recently my car has been taking longer to turn over, but it only happens some times.
Anyone know why?
Koevi is it even turning over when you try to start it? If its not then start with battery first like others have said. But if it is it could be many problems. If you want to check your fuel pump you will need to check the fuel pressure. If you dont have an aftermarket Fuel pressure reg with guage you can buy a Compression/fuel Pressure Reader from Super cheap for 20-30 bucks. While your at it Check your Compression of all 4 cylinders, make sure they are consistent. Also open your dizzy cap and check that nothing has broken in there.
When the car died what happened? did it sound like someone removing a Key Mid drive? or did it Cough and back fire? or did it run on two cylinders and then come to a stop?
I had this issue after converting my car from D15b4 series to b series. It was an issue with the Compression in the fuel tank/pump Not to sure which but it had something to do with it. So when the fuel tank was full it would instantly start but when the fuel was almost empty it would take a few kicks over to compress the fuel pump/tank then it would start.
Not to sure if its the same issue but just throwing that out there.
I just towed it back to my house before, yea it has more then half of Fuel left. When i try to start it, it wont start up at all...it just keeps trying to start up. Hmm it wouldnt be the battery would it? cause i was driving it and it died out plus the headlights, windows, etc works fine. Thanks for the info guys, gona see a mechanic on monday =). hopefully it wont rip a hole through my pocket
when u turn your ignition on do you hear the fuel pump prime?
thats an easy test.
its probably an ignition coil.
high probability.
its the ignition coil, cost ya 80 buks to fix....
exact thing happend to me while driving same car also.....:p
it could also be timing belt has snapped....
take the rocker cover off and see if the belt is still attached, if so, then try changing dizzy cap and rotor button.
as stated above ^^^^^ when you turn on your ignition if you hear the fuel pump thats all good. i belive the issue should be your dizzy. had the same issue as you but car wasnt on the road when it happened thankfully. just droped it at the garage and the following morning the mech calls and tells me the dizzy has gone for a six.
if the timing belt snapped the side belts wouldnt move right? and i would hear crunching noises right? cause the engine sounds fine when trying to start it and the side belts move too. i hope it aint the timing belt, if it is then GG to the engine =(. hope its the ignition coil
If it was timing belt the car wouldnt turn on, and you'd just hear spinning. When mine snapped revs dropped and lost power, once turned off couldnt turn it on again. Any mods to your car? Check coils and sparks dizzy also prob not getting proper sparks. Just my 2 cents.
my car doesnt turn on but i dont hear any spinning, uh oh hope its not the timing belt....sigh gotta wait till monday to find out. i guess i can always put in a H22a engine in if its gone lol
hmm whats a dizzy? LOL sorry noob quesiton
dizzy is distributor.
on your engine its the black this with 4 black cables coming out of it into the middle of your engine.
if your timing belt snapped, and your engine turns youll hear a free spinning sound.
you said it turned off while your driving.
if your timing belt snaped youll hear a clunk, a jolt n then a coast. Vtir integra. meaning manual. youd certainly feel it if your timing belt snapped while cruising, cause ud b in gear.
if your car doesnt crank.
check state of battery. replace if needed.
if not, charge/jumpstart battery start and check charge rate.
replace alternator if needed.
check ignition coil in the distributor (recommend a mechanic to do it for you. since you dont know wat a dizzy is. you mess around with timing, you could be in for more than 80 bux).
=]
how much would a new dizzy cap and rotor button be for a b18b2 roughly?
i got a second hand good condition dizzy and rotor button for b18c7 ITR
i think brand new is like $90 for cap and $20 for button
I got mine for my b16a2 little over a week ago from honda. They had it in stock and it cost $48. I think most of the B series dizzy parts are similar because my mate uses a b18 dizzy on his b16 fine so the rotor might be exactly the same.
If i was i would go and buy a new one from honda, its not that expensive and its not something that you want to happen again.
yeah thats pretty cheap $50 bucks for a brand new one was that with the rotor?
do u need one kikxz?????
all good man.......
as long as the car is going again
WOOT CAR IS FIXED! my uncles a mechanic and came over to take a look at it. it was the distibutor! he just changed one part of it, not the whole thing. Saved me some $$ and headaches lol.
Probably was the dizzy rotor.
if the car takes long to start, new battery
Would it be the coil or rotor?
I throw out batteries every 36months, regardless, my dealer says he's seen some in older Honda's last up to 7yrs...
New oem batt is around $140
When i bought my DC5R it had the same OEM battery in it and the car was 6 years old ahahahah when i saw it i fliped out the battery died 1 year latter so therefore i had it in the car for 7 years ahahahah i changed it as Honda wanted to charge me 260 for the battery i laughed and walked out.
Must be bloody good batterys lol.
The oem ones are very well built, just rebadged performance ones as the JDM Honda batts for ITRs cost $800 to get in, lol
