hi guyz, i am thinking get the toyo T1R or potenza RE001? Which one is better? Pros and cons??
never used the T1R but i can deffinatly recomend the re001, have them fitted to all my cars and have saved my life a couple of times. Extreamly good in wet wheather
had both. prefer the re001
Go Toyo R1R... they're good for 20,000k's+ and will outgrip both of em. Price is decent too.
OH! just realised i have had T1R before, and they were SHITTTT
I went from a 195 50 r15 re001 to a 205 45 r16 on my turbo pulsar.
re001s almost never lost grip but the toyos would spin and and squeal around almost any corner. This may not be the case for you application as your probably not producing half the amount of torque at the hubs. the toyos also encourage corner entry understeer under hard braking, which never happened with the re001. the re001s are 100000000x better.
what about pricing? i heard T1R is very light compared to other tires.
lol up to OP to do his own price research as costs differ almost everywhere you go.
toyo t1r or r1r.
only cos i dislike bridgestones.
toyo t1r's for me were good seemed to be pretty sticky and safe in the wet. but people have said the side walls arent very stiff which i think is probably true because when i moved from t1r to ad07 there was a heap of difference between the two side walls. then again these two tyres aren't on the same level.
i'd probably go for the re001 if i had a choice between t1r and re001.
cool, thx for advices.
I might go for re001
u kno thera plenty other options out there. if ur after grip, ur gna sacrifice mileage
n vice versa. kumho do some decent tyres at a good price n falkens aren't bad either.
if you want great mileage id suggest hankook optimo.
hey is toyo T1R = R1R?
i got R1R (that wut is wrote on tyre)in 2008 from tyrepower in central coast
i call them yesterday ask for R1R for my new wheel and they said they dunt sell R1R
i told them i got a set R1R in 2008 and they found in his comper system is T1R i got
but i 10000% sure tyre i got is R1R,i use got T1R so i know differnet
any ppl know this is ture?
R1R>T1R
T1R's are a cheaper "performace" tyre... more street based, good mileage, crap grip
R1R's are pretty much next best thing to semi-slicks... get pretty good grip, stiffer sidewalls but mileage not that great, i think i got around 20xxx k's but was probably illegal-ish after 17xxx k's or so
I've had T1R's and RE001's - The Bridgestones outperform the Toyo's with ease.
Toyo's will surely be cheaper though.
/thread.
I just have got R1R's fitted and they actually feel pretty good - though, i haven't actually driven the car hard yet...
How about the Toyo proxes 4,where do they fit compared to the T1R and RE001?
It's funny cause going from cheap tyres to Toyo T1S's was great, then T1R's were better but I need more grip!!!
Judging by the Toyo website the proxes 4 are the model UNDER T1R's.
How are Kuhmo KU 31 to RE001's?
Toyo Proxes 4 < T1R < R1R
I had proxes 4 n they were ok, but compared to R1R's which i have now they are pretty much useless. Had camber wear after 15xxx K's or so, even when the rest of the tyre was still in good shape, this was on a 17" rim mind u.
havent tried the toyos but I can say I am more than happy with my RE001's, shop around and get the best price....I did :)
RE001's sound like the go then.
re001's ftw :)
i say ku36's have them on my car and they stick like crazy, and cheap. best bang for buck tyre
bungsai .. sold you sti yet? :P
i got my toyo proxes r1r for $175each from tyrepower for 195/55/15
awesome grip in dry and amazing in wet
T1R will last longer then Ku36, just make sure you keep enough air in them as they have soft sidewalls. I would pick the kumhos over the T1R and RE001.
Thanks mate,1 of mine does have a slow leak,so that's great to know.
well depends on how you treat them. i know someone that got 25,000kms out of them from a xr6 turbo on the rear wheels. and thats a 1.6ton car.
Sweet.
wow that's pretty high the re001 is only 220
Ku36 is 180
Suprised the t1r is 280
Thanks String!
And Limbo!
So:
Toyo proxes R1R 140
KU36 180
RE001 220
T1R 280
The KU36 isnt too far off the RE001,but they sound a lot faster wearing than the RE001's?
price was alot better also.
Ku36 - 215/45/16 was only $145
Re001 - 205/45/16 was $180 205/50/16 $220
^^ Yeah the tread depth on Toyo's is...a lot :) I've had T1's and now T1R's and there's heaps of tread,it's like I want them to wear out so I have a reason to try something else, like the KU36's,not that I have a spare $640 anyways...must..be..patient..
999 automotive on here sell the KU36 for $160
I think I saw the RE001 for $190..
I'm really starting to go for the KU36 and get a track day or 2 out of them, that would be good value.Dont have to get semi's...
But I guess semi's would be a lot better.
good info in here, how about KU36 vs R1R for performance wise?
Good question.
im stuck between the 2 on which ones to get...
my ku36s have lasted me more than 6 months and im not even seeing any camber wear on them at all. seriously good tyres for their prices. just rotated them before and still seems like new.
