Lowring DC2 Vti-r 1998 King Springs Super Low Vs Low

Hey Guys,

I have an issue here, help is much appreciated.

I have a 1998 Honda Integra VTi-R, i have purchased a set of king springs super lows and am finding it impossible to have 4 people sit in the car and not scraping at every bump and turn, has anyone had this problem, or is there something wrong with my shocks? Also when driving with 2 people its ok only scrapes at the shops or coming down the driveway. I like the super low look but the drivabily is a problem

Also would the problem be fixed if i put in a set of king springs lows as they are roughly half an inch higher? Also would the car still look low and nice? Opinions and facts please?

Im running king lows on 17s. I find that if i went any lower (superlows) on the front, i'd scrub all the time when turning. Ive thought about going superlows on the rears, whch would be fine with no passengers but with a full load in the back you're ****ed

yea i was thinking of changing super lows to lows itd be better if i do decide to change to 16" as well, u think? haha yeap as much as superlows look good i cant have a full load anymore, max 2 at front...

u think lows would be the go, it wouldnt scrub on the 15' stocks?

Imo lows is the perfect balance between practicality and looks. If you're careful, you won't have problems with driveways/ramps etc, just sometimes it feels like it's still 4wd as fvck

Lows don't give you any problems with wearing out stock shocks too fast, should be no scrubbing if you don't go too wide (7" or less is fine), low negative camber so tyres don't wear abnormally fast, better handling than stock and comfortable ride. Perfect option for a daily

Also i'm pretty sure the difference between Ls and SLs is more than half an inch. L is 30-35mm, SL is 50-60mm. it's about an inch difference. Take into account the sagging as well

Would Help if Bought Skunk 2 shocks or something, to stop it sagging!!

I don't think the price tag of aftermarket shocks justifies stopping the almost unnoticable sag. Might as well go coilovers if OP was willing to spend that much.

nah don't go to 'low' springs they look gay, just upgrade your wheels to 16's.

What would going 16s do to help his problem? He would keep the same rolling diameter so height remains the same. Assuming 16s are wider than the 15s, he could encounter more scrubbing issues not less?

If you can cope with the lowness and wait abit to double your budget, and get coilovers you'll be happy.

I had king springs on all my cars I've owned, and I honestly hate it. They sag quick. So no point wasting money on it from my opinion.

Bought my teg with Superlows + Monroe shocks. Running 16s. They've sagged as well, so I'm sitting 9cm off the ground. No scrubbing or anything regardless of how many people are in the car.

hey guys thanks for the input, the only reason i purchased king springs was to make the car look a little better then normal ride height, i am planning to upgrade in near future, so coilovers would just be a waste, but also a bit dear on my budget atm.

i was thinking of just putting it back to stock as i had no trouble whatsoever, but the height bothers me, so it looks like low's would be the option not too low and also it'd still make the car look good..

also,how do i check if the shocks are gone? or do i need to bring it into a shop? plus how much am i looking at to replace them original/aftermarket.

Shops charge like 40-50 a corner. Get some mates together and DIY

Either raise it or stiffen it up.

I always tell people to avoid super lows. Yeah your car looks 'omg sikk broooooo' but it's not functional and you'll pay for it later.

Regular 'lows' will sag to a point that is still functional and looks fine. You don't have to hide the top of your tyre for it to look nice.

i had super lows on my dc2 never had a problem with my stock 15 inch wheels. i took off my mud flaps cause they scrubed

i think i may change to lows then, lloks like the best option.

papie, did you have any problems with having a full car load in ur dc2 with the super lows?
cause atm with 4 people in the car is impossible to drive esp when turning and at round abouts, scrubs like hell...

But to me that IS a problem, because your mudflaps serve the function of preventing all that dirt and water flicking up onto the side of your car, and you had to remove them.

dc4. king spring ultra lows on blown gabriel shocks. 17x8f & 17x7r w/ 215/40 tyres.

Ive got some on my phone of stock height and lows on 17s running 205/40. Ill upload when i get home, gotta go uni now lol

but something is wrong with lukeys ultralows! that's only slightly lower than my lows... even with his rolling diameter difference it shouldnt be that high. his tyre+wheel diameter should only be like 8mm larger than mine, negligible.

Yeah only looks 1-2cm lower than 'Lows' IMO.

hey guys finally got my dc2 on lows and its a perfect fit no scrubbin only over high humps, so happy with result now im looking to ge wheels for the car, only problem is do i go 15's or 16's? lol thats another story

15s or 16s dont matter man. you dont scrub on lows even with 17s as long as it's not wider than 7" and your tyres aren't wider than 205

If you get 7" width just make sure you get at least +35 offset, preferably +38 or +40 IMO = less scrub on the outside.

I don't know much about lowering, but I'm looking to drop a little bit. Not much, just enough to fill the arches up a little more than stock.

I'm tossing up whether to get 16" or 17" wheels. Looks and comfort are important, less so performance. I'm on a budget. Would a set of 'low' King Springs and some 17" wheels be the way to go?

How much will a new set of springs cost me? And I hear a lot about Kings sagging after 6 months; are other brands (Aurora?) a better bet? I imagine that, as I'm not looking at tiny margins between my wheels and arches to begin with, a little bit of sag won't cause me any issues anyway?

I posted in response to your question in the other thread but i'll see if i can help with your other concerns.

If you're not after performance then 17s imo, doesn't look oversized on the integra as much as the civic. Tyres are fkn expensive though. Since you seem to be quite reasonable and just don't want to be fully slammed sik or w/e, i recommend lows. It's softer than stock, you gotta go slower on speedhumps, don't go over traintracks after you eat cos your food will come back out etc

New springs + installation is... 400 perhaps if you can get a shop to do you a deal. Sagging is so little that you won't even notice it and it's not enough to put out your camber/toe by enough to justify getting a new alignment after a few months.

Grids? As in rota grids? I've never seen them in 17x7 unless there's something else called grids

Yeah i think my car is perfect setup for a daily, would like a bit lower but risk running into problems and just be too impractical especially in south-east melbourne. Calipers were a home job yeah, why would anyone pay someone else to point a spraycan and shoot lol

Good point. They only come in 17x7.5, and that's not going to fit, is it. That leaves me with the options of getting 16x7 +40 Grids, or just getting BSA's good old 'Vork Ravs', which do come in 17"x7.

I'm on the BSA site. What does Offset: ET 35/45 mean...? 35 or 45? That would mean I'd have a bit of scrub, as I'd need the 35s.

How much did your tyres set you back?

I got my wheels already with tyres man. But tyres are like 200-250 a corner for good 17s man. You'd be looking at least 1500 for wheels+tyres brand new
