Stock motor???
i find the k&n to be durable and also easy to clean
Add ITG filter to the list
umm wots itg..never heard of it. yes stock motor
K & N or BMC both very good filters but BMC might be cheaper and has more success in most motor sport.
i would probebly go the BMC, value for money
k&n drop in filter for dc2 is $145.
but if u gonna take the air box out just go n buy ur self a $30 pod filter it will do the job fine
I currently have a trust filter....but it is dirty as...and im pretty sure u can't clean it. So my need for a new filter. The filter will be replaced and the box will be closed.
K&N seems to be the go. Is there any other filters out there, that i can drop in my air box, that is able to be cleaned and is good performance wise?
pm 'egSi' trav from undergroundimport he should hav sum stocked
http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthr...ghlight=filter
the drop in one for dc2/4 should fit str8t into ur boX.
I have a Spoon in box filter. Other's I'd consider are Apexi, Mugen carbon CAI, Gruppe M Carbon CAI.
how about the Apexi filter, does that fit the stock box?
nah don't think so.
tanx for the link mental.
t-onedc2 im only after a drop in filter atm but i may consider a cai system from comptech and the like in the future. tanx:thumbsup:
off topic.... but stoodmire were u in marrickville today?...think i saw u..didnt get the plates...jst a yellow itr
Tried it before, VERY TIGHT FIT so it may not work well
And like what "aaronng" saids, you may consider ITG as well
ITG can be sourced from? include part number please :D
stock motor, an after market intake system will make no noticeble difference..
plus stock ecu tune would be for the air intake it came with from factory...
Spoon also make a drop in for your car mare
[QUOTE=sung;1068339]I currently have a trust filter....but it is dirty as...and im pretty sure u can't clean it.
if it the yellow sponge one then, Warm soapy water, then dry it to clean it
K&N hands down.
Foam filters are disgusting..
getting K&N soon from adrian @ toda for $140 - thats if your in syd just give him a pm
so that filters will fit in the standard air box??
Yes , the K & N (designed for DC2R) can fit in perfectly, no problem at all~~~~
It came with a lubricant seal kind of gel, which helped you to squeeze the
filter into the big air hose. Just need a bit of pushing, but not hard.:D
I meant air filter as only mod..
but if u have header cat catback.
The filter might give u gain of 1 or 2 hp. if u upgrade your old dirty stock airfilter...
Gains on N/A motors are very minimal when upgrading stock air intake.
Mainly just add sound a looks to ur engine bay..
If the correct pipe diameter and muffler/s is selected there could be very good gains with just a catback..
A intake, header and catback setup could get u a nice hp gain on a N/A motor..
I took my civic for a 1/4m run straight after my B18c convertion and only managed 14.7 with stock exhaust, SRI (k&N) and powerFC(untuned)
then came back with a 2.5 pressbent catback( same header, cat)
same SRI pFC still untuned, and did a 14.2 pass.
picked up 3mph aswell.
so what filters would fit into the OEM DC2R Airbox
Im using a Spoon drop-in for DC5R.
spoon then trust. but the king for dc2r is the mugen!!!
FYI, there was a shootout in the last autosalon magazine with airfilters. k&n didnt fair to well.
Hey guys,
One you put in a drop-in air filter, is there a need to reset the ECU to maximise the performance of the filter?
A/S magazine ??? Pffffffft
That's like getting advice from the bum in the park as to what you should use.
I got this video on Foam filters, for wat its worth
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThmW2SW1I-k
*Note, this is a sales video, so it's VERY biased
would like to re-but my last post, been doing research on filters all night
found this link, Apexi seems to be the s**t
http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/
your GF stocking works good hahhaha
Whats the K&N part number for a DC2 VTIR replacement filter??. Stock air box.
iv heard good things about spoon and trust
I have trust but it not much difference. I want a GruppeM Badly
jst go the k & n quick and easy
gruppe m for dc5, fair enough, but for dc2 its just a heat shield over an exposed filter, it still uses the stock intake arm, so theres really not much diff in velocity, its not much different than your standard pod with a d.i.y heatshield apart from its carbon bling
has anyonebody got pictures of these filters in the box with the cover off?
thanks in advanced
don't go K&N, a friends brother used one, and had dirt sitting in bottom of cylinder. I have used trust, and Spoon, and now have a Mugen intake. Apparently they are the same... but I have measured the inlet/opening of the air filter, and the spoon one is slightly larger. If you remove the baffle resignator that sits in the guard, and run A/C piping from air box to guard with a drop in Spoon filter, it is great. Spoon air filters range from $190 - $225, and good A/C piping is a good $70-$100. You won't feel amazing amounts in power gain, tbh none or a tinyyyyy little bit, but the response gain is phenominal! If you want a good intake, MUGEN BABY! I never believed people when they said 7-15kW ATW, but WOW!
I have a Spoon air filter, and A/C piping for $250 if ne one is interested? I had only had it installed for 2800km's/4 months, so it's still as good as new.
and even if you do have 'dirt' sitting at the bottom of the cylinder, it would have burnt off during combustion....
Getting GruppeM next week for less than 800
