Just wondering if there's much difference between the two for a boosted D16Y8?
I've got a unichip but have been recommended to go for the emanage.
What do you guys think?
Also, if I keep the unichip it'll get tuned at CNJ otherwise it'll be tuned a HiPower or 101.

Cannot comment on turbo application, but the guy who tuned mine uses them on all his nissan drift cars (both SR & RB motors) and swears by them, so can't see it being any different for :honda: turbo app.
Not to mention if you buy the boost control kit it iliminates the need for a seperate boost controller as it can all be controlled via the unit!!

I'm running e-blue on my boosted D16Y1 and its been a pain in the ass..
Its been very good value for me as it came with my turbo kit but I would not have brought one if it wasn't included..
Works fine thought and don't let anyone tell you different.
In the end and all the ****ing round I would have rather spent the extra $100 lol
how much would the hondata have been? as emanage blue about $400
it'll be on an obd2 P2P, not a P28

if i were you i'd keep saving abit more and just buy a Power FC... its probably about $800 2nd hand with the hand controller..

you forgot socketing the ECu also ricer. which cost $150 or so.

i also ruled out the unichip a while back when an installer told me they're only good for 15% increase in injector size. anyone confirm this? hows the emanage go with large injectors?
i've got set of 420cc (@ 100%)... will emanage be ok for these on a Y8?
i went PowerFC just plug in with a base map (from TODA) and drive to get tuned.
End of the day there is not much diff with hondata and PFC.
Apparently the Hondata ECU has a few more things you can get at an extra cost.
The power FC is pretty much all you need
P.S dun go cheap on ECU. This is where you will hurt later down the track.
It will cause you to hate your car cos it doesn't drive well. I know cos i had a Wolf 3d and i ended up selling that car cos of all the issues i had with the ECU.
Have to say with the PFC i'm really happy with it. I know a few others running hondata ans satisifed also
e-mange dose work well once you work out all the setup problems..

As your cars odb2 you won't have the dam problem I can't fix lol
You must buy the plug & Play Harness though.. as wiring makes life hard, though if your on a super tight budget just solder the shit..
So $400 e-mange Blue + $150 for the Harness.
Dose not end up being that good value IMO..
Now if you get a second hand one hell cheap then it can work out well..
found a 2nd hand emanage... all i need now is a pinout
or you could buy my power fc, lol but i'll have to find out if it works with ur car, lol, it's and obd2 ecu for integras (so it says on the box) can any1 shed any light on this?

ECUs that aren't very good are due to them not being able to be tuned to finer increments & having less features in the control.
Of course if you have a good ECU you can tune more points and get the tune almost perfect. (i don't think there is a perfect tune as combustion is not always perfect).
Tuning is critical as that's what your engine relys on. End of the day you get the best tune possible other, yes you will damage your engine, if not now, it will be later on if its not tuned properly. Any performance nut knows this and i'm sure you do also, even if your not willing to admit it.
Also with less tunable point you will get a rougher ride, the car will not be smooth, idle problems and it will feel like driving a crude car even if it makes power. Trust me i hated it when it happned to me. And it was cos the builder recommended it to me. All i looked at in the begining was peak power.
Let me tell you the issues i had;
1) idle was bad especially on cold starts, ECU had limited cold idle functions & i had to use the extra control for VVTI as a trade-off
2) car was a pain to start
3) fuel economy was really bad (it prob wasn't the ecu problem but more the tuner) from a 1.6ltr i got 250km per 35ltr tank.
4) my spark plugs died in less than 1000km, causing misfiring
In the end i put the stock ECU back in it. A cheap $500 ECU+ $850 tune started to get costly.
If you gonna do the ECU do it right the first time.
I'd recommend Hondata or PFC for hondas. There are more tuners out there for them and the keep the car running like from factory. I know other will say Chrome and other data loggers, but they are not as widely supported. If you do run into problems you want people who have been thru it for advice that actually works.
Being first is good, but its expensive & frustrating.
From all the UNIchip & Emanage i've seen, most of the users end up selling and getting PFC or Hondata. I think that should say something in itself.
Last thing. The more power you chase the more things can go wrong. If your ECU is gonna limit you guess what will happen?.....
