That's pretty good i reckon, base on 20 yrs old. I just got mine with AAMI last week. $120 monthly payment, with $1020 excess ($500 standard, $550 plus flexi) and i'm 27 this year. Ofcourse if I paid once off will be slightly cheaper.
I have mine right here infront of me actually.
my s2k is insured with:
Just Car Insurance
Rating 1
Agreed Value is $35,900
Prem = $1288
excess = $1150 (standard $400 + age $350 + wheels $400)
Please note: carbon fibre rear diffuser, and carbon fibre mirrors fitted to your car are excluded from coverage.
Aged 23 as of 2 months ago.
It was $1288 last year too.
Bastards didn't even give me a discount!
..lol

prem: $1300
excess: std 500 i think, age 650 female und 25, 1000 vehicle
i get employee discount but the excess is ridiculous. i dont think i had a vehicle excess last yr..... i never got told about it. it just showed up on my renewal :s
im 21 in vic
the car is with just car insurance with a non std stuff on the car too

i hope u didnt pay that premium of $10k, nrma is terrible anyway
 dude... you got poked in the bum...
I'm with AAMI, I pay $800 and something for the year. But i'm over 25 :o

have you not called up other insurance companies hahah
DAM 10GRAND thats some f***d up shizz man lol
OMG DUDE... in 2 years go you can buy another s2k lol
im saying, wen i was looking for insurance for a civic wen i was 18, the cheapest full comp insurance i could find was like $2200
hmm, the aami idea sounds good
Shannons best one so far..
$2250
34K Agree
With mods. Wheels, suspension, airfilter..
OMG..
Hey living in the 2166 postcode too.
That number does wonders for insurance :thumbdwn:
seriously I just don't understand?
Luder what postcode you at? i'm gonna try online again too see if its the area that makes it a $1000 bux difference..
RIDICULOUS... FFS so frustrating..
i said it before, anyone from qld or wa can forget about posting on this thread as those 2 states have very low premiums. nsw and vic are a lot higher, with nsw being the worst
Just cars have good premiums but they slug you on excess when you make a claim so it doesnt work out to be that cheap
Just live in a state where you don't have to make claims? lol :p
Post Code is 4208.
Hey guys!
I am with Elders insurance and mine is a import 01 its around $1100 worth checking out (but i work at Elders real estate)
Green Slips are around $250 thru Allaince (not sure on the spelling) ITS SO CHEAP HALF OF THE NRMA!!
i live in sydney but park my car in qld.... LOL
sorry am slow. I am not sure, it would be worth finding out, just call them. I am 26yo
those pricks from allianz.... Premium was $2500 and $3500 excess
Robbed!
You guys should check with your workplace to see if they have some sort of employee fleet insurance scheme available.
Our staff get comprehensive for $650 per year flat, $400 excess with CGU regardless of age, vehicle model/type and declared value...bloody awesome!!
Does anyone know if these insurance companies actually factor car security mods into a discount? I heard of a good burgler deterent in south africa which shoots flames from the side of the car, may need some darker tints for that one hehe
I just called up Just Car Insurance and requested to know how much it would add to the cost of my insurance policy premium if I were too boost it.
She asked me how much the S/c kit was worth, I told her $4000.
Taps the keyboard multiple times, and comes back with a reply of......
.........$9.00
Yes the decimal point is in the right spot. hahahaha $9. Then she goes, we wouldn't even charge you for it, we'd just add it to your policy to state it was supercharged.
She then asked if I need to change the ECU though. I said not yet, but at a later date when I run 9psi, yes. I told her the value, $2000, and she tapped away on the keyboard again, and said, it'd be an extra....
..........$14.00
And again she said they wouldn't even bother to charge me, just update my policy.
Sounds like a good deal? hahahaha
Never made any claims in the past for anything.
I got mine from Bingle.. full comp at just over a grand. agreed value 39k
^^ thing with bingle is that everything is done online?? you dont actually speak to anyone? so what happens if you need to make a claim? how long would it take? do you know anyone with bingle thats had to make a claim? their prices are very cheap but there will be trade off's.
btw Ludecrs- how much is your car insured for?
It says in the quote man, $35,900.
woops my bad. didnt see that part.
I'm getting quotes for a 99 S2000 insured for $30,000.
Age 24, turning 25 next month. No claims before. Post code 2166.
Just car: $2200
AAMI: $10,950
NRMA: $10,420
Bingle: $2820
Shannons: S2000 does not exist in their list of cars - online quote.
Currently Just Car is by far the better one.
I've used Just cars before as an insurer, they seem alright. But I have not made any claims so I don't really have a verdict in that category.
Any other recommendations?
Probably better waiting a month til your 25 and trying the others then?
hmm...one thing I found out the other day is that in Vic, CTP is included in our rego, in NSW the rego is half the price it is here as CTP is included in the insurance premiums for people residing in NSW. So this means that in NSW the prices will be slightly higher as the premium has CTP included.
Not sure about other states...
and Shannons does insure the s2k, you need to call them.
btw, Just cars and Shannons are under AAMI...JCI is alright, they use AAMI approved repairers but they don't have any perks like discounts from car rental etc, or free windscreen replacement etc.
soo still waiting on a review for bingle insurance
I did a quote for famous, but I think I have to ring up and quote the number given, as I can't see anywhere on their site where to enter the quote number?
bro why bother with insurance with @ that price, ill rather get 3rd party fire theft under parents names so if something does happen to it parked this and that u neccesarily werent in the car so it doesnt matter whos names it under, and even if you do have an accident wat r the fkn chances man of the damage exceeding 10k and the questiion is wil u even have an accident man. fuk that go just car or do i wat i just wrote
mate you better be careful, they act liek its nothing this that then wen its time to make a claim watch them hesitate, my cousin asked about 20s on his car they said yeah fine this that, then wen it was time to make a claim they said the rims wer fine only if roadworthy in his case no so no claim. there dodgy f*kers so be careful how u describe and get every detail
when i had the car at age 22 or 23. under my name insured for 46k i was only paying around $1400 a year
i was with justcars first at around 1800. then changed to Ryno and it was around 1400 p.a.
I have my cars with Shannons. I pay something like $980.00 or $1070.00 orsomething per year. I am an old bastard rating 1 though, and my other cars get me a 10% discount. Then when I get my cams license it goes down again. Thats with the mods listed too. Next month I am insuring the house too, cheaper than AAMI again-and they have $10,000.00 enthusiast cover for my home workshop, tools hell even my old spares cars out the side if they are nicked!
Shannons rocks!!! i swapped last week
Bingle doesnt allow for any modification what so ever. So no point insuring with them, then trying to make a claim and they reject your claim cause your car is modified.
JustCar seems to have the cheapest premium with AdJust premium, but excess suck due to the PlusVehicle excess of $2000.
Hey guys,
I've been quoted some huge figures in the past as a 19 year old with VTEC :p but I just received a quote from Commonwealth bank insurance, who used to be underwritten by Allianz and was notorious for totally excessive prices.
To my amazement, they no longer use Allianz, so the yearly cost of insuring a 1999 s2k comprehensively in 5068 (safely tucked away in lil Adelaide, the place to live for cheap insurance!) with 2grand worth of mods done to it (their valuation of the car being $28000) is $1000 a year for me (female, now 21 years old) with a rating one.
I was all set to go with just cars (as I have done for years now) but apart from the fact that Commbank beat their yearly quote by $500, they have no such thing as a $2000 excess levy for it being an s2k like just cars do!!!!!! I would have been up for $2500 excess easy with just cars, but Commbank's excess for me is $300!! Win!!
Here's their number if you're as excited as I am :p 13 24 23
Oh and btw- their online quotes tend not to be as good- apparently they prefer over the phone details etc to give you the best quote- my online vs over the phone quote with Commbank was about $400 difference. It's definitely worth the phone call! I've never been so recommending of a bank :D
Hope that helps, cheers guys!
ok for you guys who are putting it under your parents name and the car is yours or you drive most you may aswel not bother insuring it wether you're looking at full comp or just third party......
i work for insurance and every insurance company have investigators if a claim is not in order. if they find out you drive the most and you are no where to be seen on the insurance you may be damaging your chances of having a claim accepted. i know of 2 insurance companies who are very strict on claims and they are popular companies.....
why bother risking a car worth $$$$ just to pay cheaper insurance and potentially not be covered.... i really just dont understand people who do this. what a waste of money in the long run if you do claim and you get denied. you're up shit creek to buy a new car
wholey shiet.. ive been looking around NRMA quoted me 5,700 pa
i just tryed a quote from commonweath under my mums name and it only came up on 28k agreed value ONLY 1,427 pa WOW
LOL.. then i added my name as a 2nd driver the quote jumped to 4,700
insurance sucks for sydney siders...
i got quoted $4500 for value of 42k.. crazy..
I have a 2002 DC5R
Agreed Value: $30k
65% No Claim Bonus
Age 30+
I was paying $1840, then I moved 10 minutes away.. increased by $164 (damn postcodes)
I also got quotes for a
Civic Sports - $1360
Accord Luxury w/satnav - $1640
Evolution X MR - $4048
i say suss out insurance before you purchase the car.. then add rego and the price of the car and in total see if you can afford it. if you cant afford to insure it then you cant afford to have it. full stop.
to be honest when i first got licence 3yrs ago my parents pushed me to get insurance and i didnt want it. now i see its not just the car your insuring but also the property damge you get with the policy aswel. wat hapens if you loose control and drive into some ones house... you got a lazy $100g + to pay for repairs for your car, their house and their compo they will try sue you for.
my old car was unsafe on the road.... it would turn off coz the weather was too hot and i coulnt steer (sold the car in the end) but what happens if i was in a situation where it hapened and i ran over a child coz i couldnt steer out of the way.
people are phsyco. what if you accidentaly cut some one off or took a park some guy been waiting for. you get back to the car and it vandelised. you might think you're a safe driver but you cant control the actions of others. if you on third party and your intrior ruined, new paint job needed, etc. third party wont even cover the peanuts in you glove box.
if you car worth around $10g + then go full comp.
ive heard that if you dont list a driver under the insurance and they have an accident like just say your mechanic, as long as you pay the highest excess you are covered. is that true for the people that work at insurance companies?
I dont know if this is true, but if it is im willing to do this, shannons seems to be the cheapest and they only insure cars if you are within a group or club, why don't us a group do something like this so that we all get cheaper insurance?
would like to know if this is how shannons works and if people would be willing to do this?
I pay $1300 pa with justcars atm.
To be with shannons, they want you to be an ethusiast - when they say if you're in a group or club u say - OzHonda or another forum S2KI ......
Saw an ad for YOUI.com.au i might give them a call to get a quote.
