Yes, it has a sort of half brace. Doesn't go right across the engine like a normal brace would though. Stiffness of the chassis is not the real problem I think, moreso that the stock shock...

ouch! with the market the way it is, I reckon $30k with all above (except paint protection) is achievable. Why'd you want paint protection anyway? It's an expensive dealer option.
I think in terms of fuel consumption, you need to look at the gearing too....some of these cars might have really tall gearing which would have a impact on the highway leg of the test..
