A bit of a dig for this thread but in regards to the clutch hose, you'd be surprised, I bought a genuine from a dealership a few years ago and it was only $70-80. Some parts Honda sell are...
A chipped ecu and a decent tune is probably going to take you over $1k just on their own and without them the car either won't run or won't last long. Budget for a decent build, it's just not worth...
Push and twist with the key, make sure the levers not even the slightest bit up when you try it. Also make sure you're using the same key that you open the boot with. Oh and a random thing to to try,...
Some of them are notorious for being way off. I'd look at purchasing a reasonable tyre pressure gauge. If I remember rightly though, my old GIII's had a pretty bulgy (new word :P) sidewall.
The ELF stuff is great. Especially if you can get it for a good price. Renault used to bring it in, but have since stopped. So I bought a 44 gallon drum before they discontinued it :P
I went from 18-19kg 17" chrome rims (inc tyres) to some nice 15's that weighed around 14kg with tyres. So I saved nearly 20kg on the whole car. The difference was amazing, acceleration was lighter....
In neutral (foot off the clutch) your actually spinning up the centre shaft (someone correct me please) of the gearbox so everything is completely in synch. Where as with your foot on the clutch,...
Is the idle moving at all when it shakes? The shaking could be caused by a lumpy or poor idle. As above it could also be an engine mount, if one breaks you will feel a lot more of the engine movement...
Even without Vtec Honda engines sound fkn awesome up at the top end. If you ever take your car to a dyno or similar have a listen to how good a honda motor sounds from the outside. They just scream,...
Just any high revving or sudden acceleration while the car's cold. I drive like a granny till operating temperature (just remember oil takes longer to heat up then water).
Flat shifting, is not using the clutch or just jabbing the clutch and ramming it into the next gear. Might make the shift slightly faster, but is it really worth the risk of destroying your gearbox?...
Thrashing a car, is going overboard with certain things, often causing damage to mechanical parts of the car. Things I would classify as thrashing, although many people may disagree:
I'm quite impressed with my dynamco cyclops car alarm. Ryda and strathfield sell them, very cheap. But they're great quality with lots of features. Cost me $70 for a full alarm, with bonnet sensor, 2...
Is your car an automatic? There could be lots of things other than just the idle screw causing the issue. As above, vacuum leaks, or perhaps problems with the Intake manifold, etc.
If you are indeed getting an engine light. Check under the top of the carpet in the passenger footwell. You'll be getting a CEL code from the ecu. A little red light will blink a certain number of...
