There should be a pin between the winder and the door panel... jus use a flat head to push it out...

if it is your power steering belt, should tighten it by loosening the pump and sorta raise it a little, then tighten it again... or if the belt's old, jus replace with a new one. New belt's only $15,...

same thing happened to me, my spark plugs were covered in this soot stuff... changed the plugs, petrol and oil filter... use to get 300 a full tank, now i'm averaging between 420-460 a tank....

just recently changed my front brakes... and it's sorta happened since then... and the noise occurs when i let go of accelerator or when there's a change in speed...

Think my car has arthritis... but when I'm driving slow and constantly braking and changing gears, in between, there's a "clunk" sorta sound... only happens when the car jolts, as in between gears...

try using clay bar, or that scratch X by Meguiars... or a wax and buff could take some finer "scratches" out too...

the swirls can be anything from wind blowing dust particles at your car, daily...
