alot of people forget to look at the ground that is attached off the battery..
most stock cars will be fine.. sometimes it helps to check the factory ground point at the battery..

i would first check your signals.. get the sub to make the sound if you can repeat it..
then disconnect the inputs to the amp...
if the sound stops your RCA's or headunit needs to be looked at.. if...
or you could just wire in an iso harness with a wire stripping tool without cutting the origninal harness.
makes for an easier install if you chouse to change your deck at a later date.

i would imagin that the straight one would be like ya stock one but with a shorter throw, the bent one would place it closer to you still with the shorter throw...
a good spot is on the side of the car behind the wheel well on a mounted and carpeted mdf board. you can also hide the wires alot easier then on the back of a seat...
