i had the same problem but i found out that the exhuast was hitting my rear sway bar maybe thats it ??

i am also having problems with my 3rd gear but i been reading heaps that a short shift kits are really bad for your gearbox????. :x

the reason that i had no vtec is that when cornering hard around the corner, the oil in the motor shifts to one side (low on oil) and causes it to cut off, even when your at 5500 to 8300 rpm.
