So my old man was involved in an minor accident recently, where he wasn't at fault. He managed to get the claim number off the at-fault person, and he's got the car booked in with his choice of...
Got it done on Tuesday. He used a brand called Bremtec (http://bremtec.com.au/), hadn't heard of them before. Said that it was a good cheaper alternative to...
So my mechanic told me last service, that my front brake pads will be due next service. He also said that the inner pads were wearing out only, as opposed to the inner and outer wearing out evenly.

Same. If I had a more worthwhile car like a Type R. I wouldn't be insuring it with them. Next car, I'm thinking RACV coz they offer choice of repairer, and gave me a reasonable quote.
I'm pretty sure even if the at-fault party is with AAMI, you still have 100% choice of repairer. I've heard they can be a pain in the ass for panel beaters to deal with. But I've made a few inquiries...
For the Type R. Yes, the stock ones are platinum and last about 80k kms. However the non type r, doesn't use platinum as standard, and lasts about 40l - 50k; according to the log book.
Sorry to bump an old thread. But would any DC4 GSi owners, happen to know if these cars are equipped with an OBD II port? If so, where is it located? Mines a 1998 btw.
Just wanted to get some perspectives on Engine Oil Flush machines. Has anyone had this done when getting their car serviced? Has it caused any problems?
What about engine coolant for DC5's? I know there are certain fluids that must be Genuine Honda, such as Power Steering Fluid and Transmission Fluid. Is coolant one of the fluids that should also be...
Well I've been checking my oil at least once a week on average. Oil consumption is absolutely fine. Last week, the dipstick was about 80 - 90% approximately.
I'll try and convince my cousin to try HPR 10, for his next oil change. Hopefully it'll be on special when the time comes. Coz its not much more than magnatec....
So after approximately 5 months of running 10W30 Semi-synthetic. Unfortunately I've noticed a decrease in fuel economy, a friend of mine suggested that its causing more friction in the engine.

Hmmm I've heard good things mixed things about HPR10. Mostly good though. But I'm a bit concerned that 50 might be too thick. For those of you who have used HPR10, do you think it would be better...
What engine oil do you recommend for a non Type R DC5, with about 130,000 kms? My cousin has the Special Edition. Which I believe has the K20A3 engine.
I'm also trying to work out if all this talk about non genuine power steering fluid is true or not. Has anyone ever had problems when using aftermarket PS fluid (Specifically Castrol Fork Oil 15W)?...
Why are Honda's fussy when it comes to Power Steering Fluid? Even with the old Honda's like my 98 Integra GSi. I can't tell if its all a myth or if its true.
Well I guess I can't go wrong with Genuine Honda PSF. I'll see if my mechanic can order it in. I just thought I'd check, coz some people were saying the same thing about Manual Transmission...
