i'd say your shifting to low, and your engine is trying harder to get moving with less torque, you could use alot of throttle and suck up heaps of juice

i think GE's only come with a 5 speed auto box, no cvt. teh Vti-s has paddle shift but its still only the 5 speed. your right that the older GD's had a cvt which some ppl had issues with.
