UPDATE:

Problem 2 has been rectified. I simply sprayed some wd40 onto the alternator belt and seems to have remove the startup squeel. Good ol' wd40.

So I took the ek4 on a trip the other day. Unfortunately, part of the trip involved driving on country roads (dusty, muddy, dirt everywhere AND VERY bumpy)

PROBLEM 1:
Straight after i got back...

oh so the spring rates and height of ek1's and ek4 shocks/springs are identical?

interesting..woulda thought the ek4 ones wouldve been slightly lower and stiffer than the ek1's.

I find my car is blowing out alot of black smoke when i'm giving it a hit.

Car (EK4) is pretty much stock with an aftermarket catback.

Would anyone be able to diagnose such a problem?

oh, i'm also talking about stock em1 and ek4 suspension.

i.e. if i replaced my standard ek4 suspension with standard em1 suspension, would it be exactly the same height, higher or lower?

i have the obd2b STOCK ORIGINAL ecu

the tacho works fine still

yes the car drives normal still, just cuts out at 7.5

100% sure my car is an em1

it hits fuel point at 7,500rpm
i am changing the oil tomorrow, so ill see how it goes afterwards tho i don't think that is the problem

vtec still engages tho..

Are EK1 and EK4 stock airboxes the same?

I sort of had an idea on which one I would prefer. But just thought I would get a few other opinions on what they would recommend and reasons for it.

The interior doesnt have to be roomy for me. I'm not particularly a big fella nor will I be carrying many passengers around in it either.

Also, I would prefer not to have to have to go through...

but the ek cxi dont come with a sunroof, nor does it have disk brakes all round, nor does it it have vtechhh y0! haha

edit: nor do they have power windows or power mirrors. I like my luxury...

I won't be doing any engine conversions to it..haha

Just want it as a nice daily with a bit of punch.
