Well i have no problem with it and get good fuel economy from it. I never have problems with performance, actually the car drives very very well given its only a single cam 1.8 :D
sounds like the rear brake pad wear isnt an issolated issue. I have an 07 Civic and i to have done rear brake pads long before the fronts need replacing.
What did you guys expect? Braided lines isnt going to fix a soft brake pedal after 10 laps of Oran Park, the brakes are stinking hot and ready to fade by that time.... you need a brake upgrade!
