doesn't sound like a timing belt, its most likely your drive belt has lost its tension and is starting to slip. check to see if there's any cracks on the drive belt, in and out.

there's a few screws on the door trim that you will need to take off. when the bolts are out, dont hesitate to yank the door trim out cause its just clips holding it.
47 or 48 is way over board. I'd usually go around 36psi in the winter and 32psi when the weather starts to get hot. i still think 38 is a bit too much, but thats just my opinion.

Putting the silencer on doesn't damage your car. It makes it weaker obviously. Don't weld a silencer on, that's just a waste. What if you want to sell it?
