Are you getting power to any of the other cabin components? Did you splice the harness or just plug it all in? Have you tested the harness with a voltmeter?

Take off the gearknob and there should be an hole at the top of the gearstick. Get a two litre bottle of gearbox fluid and pour it in the hole. You will also need a funnel.
