AD-07 are comparable to Bridgestone RE-01R which is one step higher on the BS range. That and almost a $100-200 more, per tyre.

UTQG (very rough tyre wear guide): T1-R 280, RE001 200, RE-01R 140.

Treadwear for the RE001's is 220. Well in my old mans 215/40/17 profile they are...

I still dont understand how the T1R's could be better in the dry just based on the treadwear alone...much softer compound....

RE001's at the moment (2nd set)

Very good tyre for the price they are going for and it's good in the wet. Can't say about T1Rs but would like to try

Wasn't having a go at you... I'm actually interested in your opinion and which aspects you believe they outperform... when purchasing tyres worth near or over $800 Just want to make sure im getting the best possible tyre .

I rate Sidewall Stiffness/Steering Response and dry grip highly.

Wet grip doesn't worry me...Just go slower...I'm used to driving on silverstones which probebly have a real tread wear rating of 800...lol very hard compound; completely and utterly useless in the wet.

err, I didn't say they were better.



UTQG = 100 is the standard.

UTQG = 300 means the tyre will last three times longer on a standard test run in the US.

UTQG = 200 means the tyre will last two times longer on a standard test run in the US.

UTQG = 140 means the tyre will last 40% longer ......

UTQG = 50 means the tyre will only last half the distance of the standard tyre.

Assuming there's a reasonable inverse correlation between tyre wear and grip, we can use the UTQG number as a guide to grip/wear.

Higher being longer lasting.
Lower being sportier tyres.

I'm not going to propose this is the be all of tyre ratings, however, I've yet to see anything better.

well the tread wear rating on the RE01R and AD07 have same specs, but the RE01R shits all over the AD07 LOL

as for the RE001. its got very low tread wear rating. taken from tirerack.com, it something along hte lines of 340AA

anyone know what the tread rating is for a T1R tyre ?

i'd prefer the re001, over the t1r.. less road noise would be the 2nd noticeable difference over the obvious traction point.
