Tires - SUZITOMO ZIII vs MARANGONI MYTHOS vs POTENZA RE001

Gday guys ive been looking round for tyres for my civic, (Accord euro sport wheels (17 45 215).
The tyre shop has recomended SUZITOMO ZIII (215$ fitted) and MARANGONI MYTHOS (245$ fitted).
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these tyres, and how they compare to the RE001's. The bloke at the shop said they where way better in every way but if thats the case why do so many people recomend the re001's to me? Marangoni's did win wheels tyre of the year last year so they must be decent. Any other recomendations? Im just looking for as much grip as possible (ive been driving round on semis for the last 6 months).
    Thanks in advance
    TK

RE001's will shit on the above tyres. I have them and they are very good for the money.

They also took out the MOTOR's tyre competition last issue

I think there's another post on here about those tyres.
They didn't do well in any particular category, yet still got the gong above some name brands.

The cynical might assume there were some advertising dollars at stake.

RE001's have been VERY widely discussed on here.
Biggest problem seems to be the price hikes BS have forced on everyone.

Installed the tyre today (Sumitomo HTR ZIII 225/45 R17). Tyre is made in 2008.

So far so good. Still watchin my speed due to the waxy film on the tire.
Had the wheels balanced & aligned. Now it drives much better than on the old tyre (PP2). Maybe its coz of the alignment. No more bumps, tramlining etc. Steering much more responsive & light.
Noise also down coz the old tyre is going bald therefore the noise.

Give a better comment once seasoned & some k's on it.
So far happy with my decision. (Performance with a budget).

The sales guys even told me that this tyre is not penetrating the Aus market well but overseas it outshines many tyres.
