    b18C Type R heat related

    hey guys...
    quick question...
how hot do b18c itr engines tend to run?

i'm abit of a noob when it comes to honda specific engines and mines running noticably hotter than other engines i've played with.

    i'm shifting at 3/3.5k rpm

if i vtec it at 5k it gets ALOT hotter

on half or just below is normal from my experience with hondas.

when heating issues occure u'll def know........temp climbs fairly steadily to the end .

    Doesn't sound right to me.

Standard Honda engines run very cool.

    Check your thermostat

yeah it goes up half way...
but i'm worried that the engine feels like it'd burn my hand if i leave it there... and that the temp gauge is reading it incorrectly?

Standard honda engine as in not boosted, and no aftermarket ECU and so on.

If your thermostat is fine, i'd agree with what faijai said.

BTW just touching your rocker cover won't help. You'll burn your hand before you can tell any temprature difference
