Importing
Hey,
I've been looking around for a nice little honda (CRX, Civic, Teg) anything really as long as it's vtec and not a complete wreck.
Anywho, I came across these guys www.tradecarview.com . Ok I no shit all about importing, and the like but does anyone no how these guys rack up?
I mean I can get this http://www.tradecarview.com/used_car...ntegra/889708/ plus I think it was $2,900 or so for a 20foot container shipped to brisvegas and since it has no modifications from what I can see, it should just roll of the ship and drive away..... right *shifty eyes*.
And there are even cheaper ones, So whats the dealio? It just seems way to easy.
Cheers,

Yea sounds good i mean that one you showed is about 8.5k aussie plus 3k to ship it, then rego 1k but im not sure what other fees there are.
-

It's pretty damn good isn't it! haha, that's all I am scared of fabezzz. "hidden costs/fees"
I mean, I was looking through there before and there was a bog stock completely mint EK9 Type R with 73,000kms on it for 6k. IS THERE NO GOD!!

in a nutshell... no chance.
only way u can import one of those is by owning it privately for 12+ months while living overseas... then bringing it back with you when u return to australia. just search up importing hondas/ek9 etc on here and you'll see the replies... i think the only Honda you can import is the EP3 Civic Type R. No chance with an EK9/jdm DC2R, else there would be many more of them...
And yes, they're cheap... and as we all know, life aint fair... lol.
-
Yea i dont think they are that cheap only seems like that because the aussie ones are overpriced.

exactly correct. EP3 is only honda that can be complianced from import. all the others you need a stage 3 cams license and still wont be allowed to road rego. only allowed to track it.
there are some clever people who have EK9s and DC2s from japan , but they hard to find and even harder to push for sale :P

haha yeah, it's all relative... sitting in the middle of the ocean thousands of miles away from every other country makes everything that comes here by boat expensive. lol.

ya dude not worth your time and money there is like a million things that need to be done befor you even consider buying one to bring it over, also the current exchange makes it almost the same price as a type R over here.....

You can import that car as a race/rally car only can not be registered for Aus roads. By looking at the site.
Car $8,425
shipping is 1300 dollars
customs duty 580 dollars
gst 770 dollars
port charges about 800 dollars
and steam cleaning 110 dollars
towing 110 dollars
add all that up and you get an estimate
customs duty and gst may have gone up though

To make it simple.
For a car under 10K.
Add another 6K to that (definately less than that but better to be on the safe side).
The checks rta go through to make it roadworthy is costly.
