    Dc5R Vtec hessitation?

Hey guys.. ive had this problem for a while now.. my dc5r seems to hesitate.. i.e. take longer to get to Vtec than normal... It goes to about 6800 or 7000rpm and takes longer to get to 8000rpm.
It seems to slow down somewhat?? I only really feel it in gears other than 1st (mainly 2nd) probably because it accelerates too fast to notice in 1st
    Does anyone know whats up?
I'll take it to get looked at asap.

Have you changed the fuel filter and checked the plugs? What engine oil are you using (brand, model and viscosity)? What mods do you have? Anything odd recently like poor fuel consumption?

Is the car fully warmup? or you are running on cold engine....? engine oil and gear oil been change lately? or how long you haven't change them yet? any aftermarket parts fitted in the car? All of these may explain why....

Fuel filter is new, haven't checked the plugs (which ones are you referring to?) Engine oil (0-40 MOBIL 1 full syn gold) but i dont think its engine oil because ive changed it a few times and car still has problem (ever since i bought it) 02 DC5R. Fuel Consumption maybe be an issue i'll check how much i get from a tank.. But my last fill up i only did 140kms on half a tank - -'

Car is fully warmed otherwise vtec doesnt even engage =P . Engine oil is fine.. Gear oil needs to be changed. But i dont think its any of these issues.. i get the problem even straight after a service. Car was stock before and had same problem.

Im thinking it could be fuel pump issue or a stuffed up ecu??

Why did you buy it then? What are you comparing this too - other stock DC5R?

The I In I-Vtech may be your problem, Theres a thread on here somewhere that i cant find that explains I-Vtech & how the computer controls engine output based on certain factors & i think one of them is driving style, Kinda like what happens to the e55 AMG supercharged V8 Mercs, if you dont drive them hard they go soft after a while and when you go to accelrate the engine output will not be at its full potential, but once you squirt them around a bit the engines computer allows the engine the "open up" and you start experiancing maximum performance again. I think something like this happens on all I-vtech cars,

But then again I could be wrong!

My advise to you would be to take it to a honda specialist who has a dyno and see what is actually happening..

Take it Honda, and get them to run a diagnositic on your ECU. If there are any errors, they will be able to tell if a sensor or something is broken.
