    new p plater laws - 3 years if you're under 25

    http://www.livenews.com.au/Articles/...Pplates_longer

wonder how this works.. i.e what if you're already on your fulls but you're under 25?

or if you're like me, currently on p's but will be off them before i turn 25?

or even worse, if you're on p's but you don't get off them until after june?

yea i heard about this over the radio today,

really sucks, they're trying to cut down the under 20yo accident rate which is fair enough, but for those of us who have full licenses and fall in the 20-25 gap we still have to endure the process.

I wonder what it will do to the pricing of lams bikes as well..
One things for sure theres going to be alot of ppl breaking the power restrictions very soon

at least bike producers might see more of a market for 250cc's and they might make some newer ones... maybe a new cbr250rr xD....

    Faark are you kidding me?

Im going for my L's next weekend...

**just checked RTA, here are some more details...
    http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/newsevents..._releases.html

Mr Rees said that the changes will be introduced in June and mean that riders will stay on a provisional licence for a minimum of three years with the same P1 and P2 phases as car drivers.

“Provisional rider restrictions will now be in place for a longer period giving riders time to gain confidence and experience on the road.

“The restrictions for P1 drivers are a zero blood alcohol limit, a maximum speed restriction of 90km/h and a loss of licence for incurring four or more demerit points.

“For P2 drivers it also means a zero blood alcohol limit, a maximum 100km/h speed limit and a licence suspension for their second speeding offence.

“This is about saving lives and reducing the number of people injured on our roads by ensuring riders gain more experience.”

Roads Minister Michael Daley said that currently riders must hold a learner licence for a minimum of three months before attending a pre-provisional course.

“They must then be on a P1 provisional licence for a minimum of 12 months before applying for a full licence,” Mr Daley said.

“The minimum three year period on a provisional licence will raise the age for getting an unrestricted rider licence from 18 to 20.
That ****s me up... im 23 and have a full license, so either I go for L's now and ride around on a 250cc etc for 3 years, or I wait until im 25 and apply for full license...

Or would they exempt me if I turn 25 but have my P2's?

from what i gather if you are on your reds, then you need to do your greens if you dont have your fulls by june, someone correct me if im wrong, i need to book for my reds now its been 3 months

    ...someone PLEASE correct me

EDIT - just read up a bit and apparently if you do have your p's before the law comes into play this June, you wont have to follow the new scheme.
bloody myrta is down now as well, must be flooded with ppl trying to book!
