    gearbox are different, S40 gearbox for ej8
    mounts are the same, straight drop in
    harness, as pointed out above

    engine swap, depends if u do it urself or workshops, workshops still charge closer to 6-7k for swap.. dont go b16a2, go b18c, same price ... if ur doin it urself, get a half cut, saves u the hassle of sourcing some parts

    Gearboxes are compatible if both engines use the same type of gearbox. For the D-series there are 2 types, if you have the small bearing type, then your new motor needs to be compatible with the small bearing type gearbox. Otherwise the only difference is the ratios (as far as i know).
    I think the earlier gearbox's were small bearing (I think S20?) and the later (i.e. in the ek/ej) were the large bearing type (S40?).

    Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    My mate installed a D16Y (Vtec) into his D15 EG Sedan. Everything bolted in and being an EG would mean he had a different gearbox?

    I would have assumed the Engine will always be the same
