If the service booklet is original from the first day the car was owned, then it will show you the original engine number that came with the car. Have you opened the service booklet yet?

    aaronng... the voice of reason....

how about a call to a Honda dealer or the RTA instead of taking photos of the paint colour inside the chassis rail on the back left hand side on a full moon....

Why don't you just check the service booklet? Unless you didn't get it when you bought the car used.

This pic appears to be a UK spec "Jazz Sport". Definately not a version sold in Australia and not what your car is. (UK spec uses miles, not kilometres)

I had another thought today. Does your car have under 40,000kms on it and if so are the tyres the original Bridgestone Potenza's? They should be if it's a genuine Vti-s. You can check that the age of the tyres matches the age of the car.

The tyres should be about 4 to 6 weeks older than the manufacturers build date. Each tyre has the manufacture date on the side. If you look on one of the drivers side tyres you will find the letter "JAB" followed by 4 numbers. The first two numbers are the week and the last two numbers are the year. For example "JAB3406" means that the tyres were made in the 34th week of 2006.

Example - If you car is a September 2006 build date (build date, not Australian compliance date) the date on your tyres should be around July 2006 which is somewhere between the 27th week to the 30th week so the number on the side of the tyre would be 2706 or 2806 or 2906 or 3006.

Have a look at this to see if it all matches up. Could you let us know what the result is.
