rycos are dirty, use the wrong paper element for Honda engines first of all and dont come off as easily as they are a monged shape as they are a shit filter (that is over priced and as dear as Hondas anyhow lol)

its a waste as Honda has a perfect tool for easy installation and removal and some cheap asses would rather pay maybe at best 1 dollar less for a cheap filter designed by corner cutters

and my god the tool is $10 from the dealer and u get 10 filters for $100 that are actually designed for ur bloody engine, ffs ppl why would u use anything else

and the other thing that gripes me is ppl using non oem coolant and they wonder why they have water pump failures... its now the best coolant avail on the market...

I supose coming from a guy spending now thanks to the awesome govt $20 a pack on smokes Id save money too at all cost lol lol lol jks jks

For those guys out there that don't have the oil filter remover from Honda dealers (lets just say hypothetically you own several brands of cars and cbf having filter removers for each one), is there a toolless way to remove the oil filter? E.g. Maybe a rubber hammer to the filter before trying to undo it.

My dad puts a cloth around the filter like a belt and twists the ends to tighten the grip.

Doesnt always work though if the filter is seized.

If you do the filter up by the proper way which is slightly less than hand tight, then the cloth or rubberband method will work. I can even take my oil filter off by hand without using cloth.

type of oil and frequency of filter change will depend on you're mods and driving too.
if you get 500-600 k's from a tank, get 5-30 oil cause you obviously take it easy.

and you shouldn't even need one of these!
if you put the filter on right and dont screw the **** off it you should be able to get it off by hand. i've only once needed a removal tool and that's because someone else did the previous oil change (and by "removal tool" i mean stabbing with a screwdriver and turning. lol)

Yes, and the torque setting is equivalent to less than hand tight. I think it is about the point where you get the first feeling of tightening and then going an additional 1/2 turn past that point.

when Im stuck under the car, in the cold, in the evening, its hard to tell the tightness of the filter, hence a torque setting is provided for faultless motoring lol
