Smile respraying rims with red lip looks A+++

    hey oz peeps
i had my rims for a long tym and just wanted a change. instead of buying new ones that would of cost me $1000+ i thought id respray them which cost me around $30

Aim: to make your rims look sex spec once again

    required:
    3m tape
toilet scrubber (lol its all i had at work)
    a pack of playing cards
    good degreaser
    enamel primer
engine enamel paint (colour of your choice)
    red spray paint
    top clear coat

these are the rims im going to be painting:

    Step 1:
degrease all the dirt and brake dust from your wheels and give it a good rise down and allow them to dry.

    Step 2:

Place rim flat down and use the playing card and slot them in between the tire and rim making sure they overlap.

    Step 3:
give a good two coats of primer!!

    Step 4:
Now use the red spray paint and paint the rim of the tire. doesnt matter bout overspraying on to the primered rim just dont go overboard. A good two coats should do it.

    Step 5:
Now the hard part, carefully tape up the red lip, cutting the top of the 3m tape so it can bend around the rim smoothly so theres no creases. sorry dont have any pics of this but you catch my drift.

    Step 6:
Now spray the whole rim, working from outside the rim to the centre works the best. 2-4 coats

    Step 7:
wait for the paint to dry and peel od the tape. if your looking for a matte black stop here!!! you should be happy with the product
if you want a gloss black add another 3 coats of gloss
mind you the gloss coat also protects the paint from stonechips.

just a heads up guys for anything paint the longer you take to prep and the more effort you put into the prep work the better the finish.
