    honda accord euro gearbox whining

    fellow hondanites
i started my car this morning and was devastated to hear a significant whine in the first three gears until warm up and then it magically disappeared. im pretty obvious as to the outcome but do yoy recomnend changing the ATF filter and fluid to genuine or using a nulon automatic trandmission fluid additive.

How many KMs has it done and how long ago was ATF changed? Freedy has a nice thread going on that you should really read: http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthr...-to-read-this*

How many km's on then car?
And when you drove this morning before it properly warmed up
Did you go over 3k rpms?
And yes change it ASAP - don't use Nulon
There are a couple of other brands you can use instead of OEM

    Hey guys
The car has done 159 000 kms and the ATF was changed about 20 000 kms ago.
It sounds ironic but I retraced my steps and I realised the noise immediately started as I turned the wheel and it happened as soon as I switched the car on this morning at about 3am - when it was dead cold. After driving for about 3 mins the whine immediately went away. Me thinks it is the power steering pump and its affiliates i.e the hose or the seal or something. To be honest the gearbox has been running fine and is quite smooth and responsive and has always been serviced on time with genuine Honda.
    What do you guys think?

not sure how 'sure' you are it is the tranny
    but
our cl9 started making this same noise just recently , 3-4 days later car wouldn't start,
ended up being the Alternator that went so swapped it over and its all good now

but the noise was as u described it , went away after warm up

i get paranoid from small noises coming from car lol
    so understand completely

i would start car with hood up and see if u can pin point the noise, funny enough i thought it was the tranny also when our car started to make this noise, but missz listened and pointed to the Alternator and said "it's this thing"
    lol she was right
