    timming

    hey i had teh timming done on my d16y4 non vtec... 98 cxi civic hatch.. it was realy snappy and funn to drive for about 10mins then it reset its self.. why did it do this and who do i keep the timming ?????? what do i need to change to keep it adjusted????

    how was it done, who did it.

    are you sure its out. its not hard to set the Ign timming on the CXi, if it was done properly I cant see how it would be out after 10 min.

    The Ecu automatically recomputes doesnt it? not 100% but i read somewhere the ECU just resets itself after a while...

    hmmm, yes the ECU on an EK will trimm the timming but it wont reset it to the correct timming if its out. thats why its important for the base timming and base Idle be set correctly as the computer works off these settings.

    ok i tested it... i increase the timimg and then we dynoed it.....then we drove it down the road and stuff...i came back about 30mins later we dynoed it again and checked teh timing settings and it was back to stock again... how and what ecu do i need to keep these settings?????i also have full zorst,headers, intake and stuff....what is the best ecu upgrade for me... i wouldnt mind getting it tunned with a new ecu and get the ecu chipped?? what brands and what sorta of monsy am i looking at to do this?????

    umm i didnt have the headers on then of the cai and i got 85 hp... i think....with headers and cai and with the timmimg not done and the fuel not tunned i got 94hp....but my car was alot quicker with teh timming and fuel tunned to it... u could notice when it reset its self...

    what other mods did you have and how big is your exhasut piping?

    u need to jump the service connector dude.. see the thread regarding pulling the ECU codes, same one.

    alternativly, google for 'honda timing" will get u the goods.
    just the service connector, let her warm up, and then set hte timing, then take the jump out and ur set.
