NRMA mechanics to be honest with you, were maybe good in their time, but once you get into nrma, or club assist or whatever, there pretty much useless, all their good for is jump starts, checking your battery levels and alternator and starter with their multi metres,,,,

any **** stick can service their cars these days, everyones a e- mechanic of some sort,

all car services are basically the same

    oil
    oil filter
sump plug or replace copper or fibre washer
    fuel filter
    air filter
coolant top up or change ir required
    check all lights
    demister
    wipers and washer bottle
pull off wheels check for brakes
do underbody inspection, cracks, tears, signs or wear, etc
pump up your tyres to manufacturers specifications
    spark plugs
    spark leads
depends really how many kms are on your engine too, not too sure whether the 2 and 4 models, are hydraulic tappets, so research on that, and adjust them if the kms are high on the motor,,,,,

no one needs to be man,,,,, everyones a e- mechanic these days, dont be shy,,,, learn new things, and do new things,,,, if you know a few things here and there, and know your parts then you can build up your knowledge in a quick manner of time,,,, like all the guys that do engine conversion on here just probably read off the diy threads, and done it themselves, and charging people to do it now,,,, so yeah,,,,

i also forgot to mention check all your belts,,, for wear and tear and fray, dont want to be driving down the road, and the alternator belt snaps, cause you didn't check it during your service,,,,, also to keep up to date use a lube sticker,,,,,

i was with the same with computers years ago. now i build my own computers, fix them and for friends and family too

i'd love to be able to service cars and be able to buy/inspect a car without the help of a mechanic.

servicing cars is pretty straight forward when you get the hang of it,,,,but you will also come across different varietys of cars, models and makes, they also have different types of filters, air cleaners, could be the ordinary one or cannister ones,,, so servicing one car doesnt make you competent you service other cars,,,, inspecting a car is pretty tought sometimes,,,,yeah you could be so hektik on checking out the engine, but how about the underbody inspection and all you know? so yeah
