    Engine bay getting hot

    how hot is the engine bay suppose to get, i feel as though my valve covers get so hot that it can cook an egg but yet the temperature gauge is only at halfway, is that normal? i have a d16y1 btw

    obviously its suppose to get hot but i was curious if it was meant to be that hot..

    I would say you should be able to semi bake a turkey, but not thoroughly cook a beast. Eggs should be no problem.

    You shouldnt have an issue there, the valve cover will get very hot to touch. If you are having an overheating issue, be sure to listen for pinging under load, its a tell-tale sign that something is wrong!

    my car runs fine no problems watsoever was jus curious to see if everyone engine gets as hot as mine lol, pulle dout the dipstick to see oil level and the freakn stick burnt me

    Ever ran your hands under constant 90-100 degrees water?

    Well it might answer your question.
    The engines cooling system runs at <90degrees (on hondas).
    Oil can reach in excess of 100degrees.

    Aluminium melts at some x000 degrees. Combustion is xxxx degrees, and is happening 750-850 times a minute. (idle).


    Long answer short. Its normal.
    Just thought id give you something to think about next time you ask if something that has, 750 explosions happening a minute, is considered normal to be hot.
