was quoted 26.5k from a few places around in sydney for a vti-auto
definitely feels over-priced... considering civics were going for cheaper htan that earlier in the year...

The only thing I can figure out is that the Jazz has been specially designed to meet a certain demand. It's compact, fuel efficient and at the same time can zoom along very very well, and also hold a lot of luggage and accommodate 4 adults and a big tall driver........the Civic may be the same price as the Jazz but does not do well in all the areas I mentioned.
So that is why I reckon the Jazz is so expensive.
If Honda supply The Jazz VTi's with alloy wheels and I can do 100,000kms without any major or minor dramas then the cost will probably be worth it.

No but having said that I paid a further 2.5k to accessorise it to something quite unique using genuine OEM parts.

Our auto is very frugal with its economy and couldn't wish for better.
Seat comfort is very ordinary, paddle shifter is a gimmick and we would drive it in auto mode 99% of the time.
But to get the body kit and nice wheels and auto, you have to have it.
Stereo is garbage and turning circle is fantastic.

Ride is harsh with the lower profile tyres, vision out the back window with the ridiculous sized third central stop light is crazy.

First Honda but I think we should have done a lot more reserach on competitive priced vehicles.

Well, I suppose that's the main reason I want a Jazz. I assume you got a VTiS....with alloys and low profile tyres.
The Jazz I test drove was a VTi auto with 65 profile tyres and I was happily impressed with the ride, even over bumpy roads.
Thanks for your feedback.....it will all go into my decision for what I will buy next to replace my MY04 Liberty.

Whoa Albert.......if you are coming out of a 2004 Liberty, man are you going to be in for one hell of a shock when you compare the class of the Lib to that of the Jazz.

Similarly, I've come out of a 2004 GT liberty premium wagon (got written off, not of my doing) and forgetting the turbo for a minute, it's like comparing cheese with chalk....AWD, ex car of the year status, creature comforts etc..

I think the key is to lower you expectations if you are serious about getting a Jazz.

It's an OK car and it's overpriced for it's class. Pretty much simple as that.

The Australian Jazz is no Japan Car of the Year no matter how much Honda Australia try to falsely advertise it as. There is a massive difference between the Japan FIT and Thai Jazz.

You buy this car because you want to feel good in a stylish looking Honda with good space. If you're happy with that, then it's the car for you. There are better bangs for bucks around rather than the Jazz.

A vert honest appraisal and a very good summation.

I'm in no rush to sell our Liberty, but when the time comes, I just want a car to do the shopping in. My days of going for long drives and banging around are over now.

We may even decide to get a new Impreza when the time comes as I'm not too worried about fuel efficiency because I don't plan to be doing many Km's. I just want an easy car to drive and to manuver into parking spots so the Jazz fits the bill nicely. Surprisingly the Impreza cost about the same price as the Jazz VTi.

The new Liberty is pre released in a few days' time for which I have been invited.
I would have a very good look at that over the not popular current Impreza.

Tinter, I certainly will be checking out the new Liberty, as I have have had Liberties since 1993.....but even though the new Impreza is not popular, I love it....we love it , my wife and I. I have test driven two and they go real well with a very compliant ride and a great overall feel to the car. I can't understand why they have not sold a lot more.

Basically an ugly design reflected also by the loss in popularity of the new WRX and STI genre.
It will be interesting to see the new Liberty in the flesh but current Subaru forum postings on the sneak preview of this car haven't been too kind either.
