what engine oil are good for track use?

hi,everyone.i track my car very often.im using the castrol edge 5w-40 atm.im after some better oil for my needs.im thinking of getting the castrol edge 10w-60 or the redline 15w-50 oil.but either of these oil will put too much load on my oil pump and lose top end power.would that too thick for a 4cyl?what are your recommendations?

    thanks

Edge 10w-60 is a shitty mineral oil. Stay away from it. I would stick to Edge 0w-40 or go for Motul or Elf 5w-40.

shitty because its mineral , or shitty because its rated 60 viscosity hot lol.

Oops, I confused it with 25w-50. Damn. Edge 25w-50 is the shitty mineral one based on the old Castrol mineral oil for 70's and 80's engines.

10w-60 should be the new one that is expensive.

higher viscosity will give more lubrication at hi rpm.

not THAT high. That is surely too thick for a honda engine. IF sticking to mineral , try honda FEO (10-30) its fine for track use.

No, that is not true. Viscosity is the resistance to flow. Too high and the oil won't flow into the tighter moving parts in the engine. Honda engines are spec'd for 10w-30 oil. So you can go up 1 or 2 grades, but 3 is too much for an engine with stock internals. If you have changed the clearances to make it larger, then a more viscous oil would make sense.

I've used Royal Purple for a while now. Its pretty good. It is expensive, but not as much at some other exotic brands. I think any decent synthetic oil is fine to use, with more emphasis to be put on doing regular oil changes.
