    Limp mode.

Is it throwing a code? Does your CEL light work?

Do you know how to check for errors?

There will be a green plug on the passenger side you need to jump and count the number of flashes while the ignition is on (motor off) that correspond with a certain code.

Is it a definate "rev-limit" at 4000rpm? or will it exceed/fluctuate around that area?

Ok, have you looked into why that happened? I wouldn't want to drive around a motor knowing it's jumped a tooth on me for no apparent reason

Did you install the timing belt wrong? If so, that's different!
