Red face VTEC's not engaging anymore but kicks in at 5900... what could it be?

    Hey guys,

My lil bro has a dc2r, been having this problem not too long ago.... vtec's not engaging at all but when it hits 5900 VTEC comes on and go all the way out.

Took the car to hondatech at thomastown for a check up last week, got the vtec solenoid clean and they checked all the wirings and ecu nothings wrong with it.....

    what else could it be?
