    Honda's S2000 races ahead in Top Gear’s 2004 survey

    Honda's S2000 races ahead in Top Gear’s 2004 survey

When over 50,000 readers of the UK’s best-selling Top Gear magazine cast their vote in the most rigorously researched survey of over 140 cars from 35 manufacturers, the response is nervously awaited.

    Honda however, can sleep easy.

Not only did the S2000 win overall, but Honda can boast being the only manufacturer with three cars in the Top 10, thanks to the Jazz (Best Small Car) coming in at No. 4 and the British built CR-V at No. 10.

The survey is extremely comprehensive – and it proves the overall customer experience is critical in pushing cars up the poll.

It may come as no surprise that the S2000, a sports car capable of revving close to 9,000 rpm, topped the tables for performance and driving entertainment. More enlightening is the fact it raced away when it comes to mechanical reliability, acceptable running costs and the courteous and knowledgeable service Honda dealers provide.

Steve Oliver, Honda’s Head of Customer department commented, “When it comes to the second biggest purchase of your life, “being satisfied” just isn’t enough. Complement a quality product with a quality service and it makes a heady combination.”

The philosophy is paying off: Honda has had a busy year with sales growing by 10 per cent in the first three quarters of this year.

it's not saying the s2k performs better. the survey was on customer satisfaction.
