Stereo Question

hi i have an integra type s.....i wanted to upgrade my current sound system without buying a new head unit because the stock one looks so nice and i dont wanna spend alot for a nice double din.
How does the stock head unit compare to aftermarket ones?
I cant find any specifications on the current sound system....does anyone know wat size speakers go in the front and rear? or anything regarding the stock head unit? e.g how many pre outs does it have?

i never really did anything with the dc5's but uh..
fronts are most likely 6inch speakers.
rears SHOULD be 6x9 but in my DA9 stock was 6inch..

but yeh i dont wanna lie to ya mate.
If you look in the manual in the car though it MIGHT say..

As for the RCA pre-outs the standard GSi Model DC5 has none.. not sure about the TypeS but most likely the same.

In my opinion change the head deck man, aftermarket looks better too u just gotta find the one that suits ya. Worst comes to worse just go buy one with a massive screen they always loook good lol.

If you want to keep the OEM head unit you can always have a look at Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY Interactive Signal Processor (http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/produ...s.asp?cat_id=1) or Audison Bit One (http://www.rmaudio.com.au/Press_Info...n__Bit_One.pdf).

Any Rockford or Audison dealer should be able to point you in the right direction.

dont need a signal processor, just need an LOC (line output convertor)

There's many things you don't need. However if you're going to do something you might as well overdo it. Although, noted, if you're tossing up between spending the cash on a processor to go with OEM head unit or replacing head unit, replacement would generally be the wiser option.

Could also get an electrical engineer to modify it to accept RCA outputs. I'm not sure if its possible for that specific head unit but its definitely been done.

^^ agreed, im using my stock HU in my car and running an alpine sub and amp. Use an rca outline convertor, there like 25 bucks at autobarn. and run your remote wire to your fusebox. works perfectly
