Unhappy AIR CON Failure on 2004 euro Luxury

    Hey There,

My Air Conditioner compressor gave up the ghost on Friday, making a rattling noise inside the compressor, contacted dealer estimated cost, $2500, not happy anyway have contacted Honda Australia, they were quite understanding..I need now to take the car to the dealership, they will access the damage and apply for a Goodwill Warranty From Honda Australia. Will keep ya posted on my progress, fingers crossed. Have done some research on the net and it seems like this particular Compressor Part # HS110R is notorious for this problem

    Thanks

If they don't cover it , call up some aircon specialists. I was quoted $1000 to replace a compressor (on a different car) and they use a 3rd party compressor, so no more failures after 6 years.

    Hey Guys,

Yep it sure looks like it is a common issue, has been going on for years, CR-V are having the same issue back as far as 1998, surely Honda cannot believe that such a major component failure after 5-6 years is reasonable wear and tear...I really do enjoy my euro and I still think it is one of the better cars on the road, just did not expect this to happen. It appears that I will need a new compressor, and also the other components, condenser, evaporator, expansion valve and accumulator and a total system flush, seems it is very hard to clean system after a failure like this, do not understand why they dont put a filter inline after compressor and before the other components to prevent this type of contamination. Car is booked in for the 11Th of Feb so will keep ya all in the Loop and thanks for the info, would appreciate other Honda owners with similar stories to drop me a thread as we hopefully can help each other..

    Hey Guys,

Took my car to dealership the other day, they did an assessment of what was wrong, and are submitting the request for a Goodwill warranty, will let you know the outcome when I hear from Honda Australia

couldnt you just get a compressor from the wreckers?
my mate got quoted like 1500 for his ek to replace his compressor

unless the compressor is sitting at the back of the motor, shouldnt be that hard.
i purchased a compressor from here for $50, labour to do everything was less than 250 including regas. ek compressors are below the power steering pump, which also had to be removed to fit new compressor.

why bother going to honda and get ripped..

My 05 is booked in tomorrow for air con repair. Was working perfectly but now not getting cold. Obvious fault is a gas leak but could also be a TX valve I suppose. Fingers crossed that it is just a leaking fitting at the compressor or drier so a new O ring a regass will fix it.

Not looking to highjack this thread but the news on mine isn't all that good. Apparently there is a control module for diverting the cold air to both sides because of the dual mode system, and this module has had a history of failing, which is what has happened to mine. the mechanic contacted Honda in newcastle and was told 22 of these have failed (I don't know if this is just in Newcastle of all of Australia) The dealers have had a 50% success rate with "reprogramming" this unit. Otherwise the module is $680 and the labour time to R & R the dash is 10-12 hours. So at dealer hourly rates + parts I bet this runs into a $2,000 job. I will try the Goodwill thing with Honda also if I have to. Only had this thing for 3 months and now I don't think I like it. Had my Soarer for 10 years and it was a lot more complicated car but didn't give me any financial grief like this thing is trying to
