Positive/Negative speaker wire colours for front speakers

    Car: 06 Civic sedan.
I have my Polk front doors speakers installed for a week now but I'm finding that they sound weird, like they're very wide compared to the stock speakers. It almost sounds like they are wider than your ears..

I'm worried that I've wired them wrong, so they might be out of phase.

Which is the positive/negative polarities on the speaker wires for the front speakers?

    Right speaker: Brown/Grey
    Left speaker: Green/Blue

    Thanks.

i think the wire with another thin stripe along the wire is negative.

have a look at the speaker when there is music on, not too much volume. and see if the cone is being "pushed out" along with the bass, if this is what happens then you have correct polarity.
if the cones "pulls in", then you have incorrect polarity.

    or this might work:
do not have any accessories on, the whole car off. using a multimeter on the Continuity setting, put one probe on one cable and the other probe on any earth of the car. it should beep at you, if it dosnt try the other cable while leaving the other probe on earth. if it does beep at you, i means that cable is earth/negative.

Agree with the checking method described.
The wide sound is weird because if you didn't change the head unit the stereo effect of the sound wouldn't alter with just a speaker change.
Is there a surround switch on the unit you may not have seen before that's been activated? Not likely but you never know
