    Odyssey Concept

    News recently in from Honda Worldwide:

    The Odyssey Concept dramatically departs from conventional minivan styling with its low and wide stance, highlighted by a "lightning-bolt" beltline that further distinguishes the vehicle's profile. Compared to the current Odyssey, the Concept's slightly lower roofline (-1.0 inch) and wider stance (+1.4 inch) contribute to a sleeker, stronger and more dynamic presence with improved aerodynamics that help increase fuel economy.

    Looks like the old oddysey and the new oddysey had a baby.

    Or the new oddysey raped a city and thats what came out.


    IMO. Honda needs to restyle their cars big time. All the newer cars look the same. City, euro, oddysey, civic si (fn2) all share the same characteristics.

    Look at the older hondas. Integra civic accord crv hrv all looked diffeent. Like they had a different view for each car.
    Nowadays they got lazy and incorporated everything into every car. Honda needs to release some k20 powered RWD cars.

    agreed. they've gone down the line of keeping the entire range almost the same.
    need to spice it up a little.

    i don't think they need a k20 rwd car. They've been producing mostly FWD cars for years, and they do a good job of it.

    I do agree that they need to change their design though, nothing unique about any of the cars. its almost like they could all be called a civic and just be release as a civic hatch, civic sedan, civic MPV etc.

    Honda are just trying to play it safe and use the good looks of the Accord Euro (which has been a great success, no doubt about it) to get sales of their other cars up.

    Don't expect a RWD non-sports car from Honda. They'll reserve RWD only for their sport models.

    Yeh but restyling everything to look like the euro is a bad move. Then you have a euro looking honda with the price range of 20-50k. There isnt a point really. Change it up. Even the crz looks like a euro lol.

    Honda ... how they have gone downhill.
    Type r without an LSD ... The hell were they thinking.
    LOL even worse... a solid torsion beam style rear suspension. Oh geez. and 1 more hp than the previous type r. -.-"

    They lost it.

    It's called brand identity. All old Honda's look the same too, CA Accord, KA Legend, ED Civic, 3rd gen Prelude, Da Integra... All with the low slung front and simple 3 box shape.

    The pictured odyssey is a step backwards in achieving what the old model managed (disguising immense interior dynamics).

    Yeh but dude. That was in the 1980-1990's.

    After that look at the eg ek civic dc integra bb prelude, nsx and s2000.
    That was hondas golden years. Every car had their own look. Their own style and taste.

    Fact of the matter is. Honda is not bmw or porsche where they can get away with making the same looking front end on nearly their whole range.


    Id understand if honda made the same design for their sedan/hatchback and/or smaller compact vehicles. And a more fierce look for their sport or R versions. Then make a more subtle and different look for their family range. They did this very well in the 90's.

    They found an eye catching design (euro) and restyled it and incorporated it to their other models.
    lol How would you feel if you were in an fn2r and that oddysey concept rolled up next to you at the lights and you realise that the car next to you does not look much different.

    Thats pathetic.
    If a dc5r or dc2r rolled up at the lights and an oddysey rolled up. There is a big difference. You actually know youre in a sports vehicle.

    Honda changed their game with the K series. And their exterior design with euro styled cars. But making 80% of their lineup look like a euro. Is just sad.

    This is what we should get in OZ instead of the pretend people mover we get now that totally misses the point on why people buy people movers: Height above traffic and space to move about in. The OZ Odyssey is just a glorified "station wagon" not a real people mover.

    Whether they can get away with it or not is debatable. Irregardless it's good for marketing.

    really? this odyssey concept does not look any higher than the current rb3 odyssey in aus atm. u will even be getting slightly less headroom with the concept.

    i agree with all the talk about honda's design team. if i were to get one of these, one of the first things i would do is change the ugly chrome grille.
