    3R-C Electric Single Seater Concept

No news of a production version but looks like a few manufacturers are jumping on board creating electric powered personal transport vehicles.

This revolutionary three wheeled battery electric vehicle concept shows what a future minimal urban transport vehicle for one person might look like. The battery electric drivetrain is mounted low in the three wheeled chassis, therefore keeping the centre of gravity low and thus improving stability.

The 3R-C has a clear canopy that covers the driver's seat while it is parked and not in use. When 3R-C vehicle is in motion, the canopy becomes an enveloping wind-shield that provides the pilot, who sits low in the vehicle, with significant protection from the bodywork and doors.

The high sides of the safety shell seat give greater safety to the occupant, reducing the threat from side impacts and improving weather protection. In front of the driver is a lockable boot area, which gives significant secure storage for luggage or other items. The 3R-C's designers created a flexible cover that surrounds the upper torso to reduce exposure to bad weather and improving comfort.

The 3R-C study was created by European designers working at Honda's Research and Design facility in Milan.

    cool. very unique.

I wonder how they would go in a crash. Would they be similar to a bike or do they have restraints/airbags like a car? (i could imagine the occupants head smashing on the top edge of the windscreen in the photo above)

Almost a half way point between the two vehicle types.

I don't think the visor will be much different to some bikes already out there with visors. It probably won't do much damage compared to what you're hitting either The helmet would probably help too!

Looks good, great idea for inner city/suburban travel. wonder what the expected range and charge times are.

what happened to good old fashion exercise? are we really getting that lazy that we need vehicles like this? the design looks great and futuristic and all, but if ur gonna use this for inner city/suburban travel, isnt a bicycle good enough?

    LOL too true.

I see it as a mix between a scooter and a bike. Pricing would be the big factor IMO.
