Sound system upgrade for a newbie :)

    Hi,
I have a 2008 vti civic and looking to upgrade my sound system.
Is there any recommendation as which store I should go in Sydney(in term of their advice, price, and quality wise). I’m totally clueless about what kind of stuff should I go for (been to ryda – pretty friendly), therefore a good advice and an honest shop would be my first option (as some of the store will be trying to rip off as much as they can from a newbie like me).

Budget wise maybe around 2.5 (looking to get a double din with the screen as well ;p)
Most of the sub taking a lot of spaces, is there a better way to solve this issue as I need the spaces some time.

    Thanks in advance

    Regards,

    Pendy

Im assuming that you want a balanced sound system installed in your car as you dont really want to sacrifice the entire boot space. From experience and personal preference, I tend to purchase my car audio gear from Jaycar Electronics. Jaycar's range of car audio gear is great bang for your buck. Offering great performance, good quality at reasonable prices. Not to mention that the sales people in jaycar are very knowledgeable, technical and helpful.
Their range of amplifiers are well built, greater power, performance and features over branded amplifiers four times their price. They are also made in Korea as opposed to China where most amplifiers are coming from nowadays.
Their speakers are also great performers! The Venom range for budget and Response for high fidelity sound. The subs also offer amazing bass response. The only downside is that they do not offer suitable boxes so you will have to be handy with the jigsaw and make up your own or you can find a suitable pre-made box elsewhere.
They are also selling a Touchscreen Double Din 7" DVD Player for $399.00. An absolute bargain for the features included. e.g. 4 x 40WRMS, front, rear, sub RCA pre-outs @ 4V, multi-video inputs for reverse cameras, etc.
So my recommendation to you is as follows:
QM3784 - 7" double din touchscreen DVD $399.00 on special
    AA-0458 - 5 channel Amp (4x60WMRS + 340WRMS for sub) $449.00
    CS-2329 - 6.5" front splits $79.00 on special
    CS-2374 - 6.5" coaxials for the back $119.00
    CS-2354 - 12" dual voice coil sub $249.00
This system will cost you less than $1300.00! Amazing for the sound quality and performance that you will get.
So if your a sensible person who purchase products for their value rather than brands, then i strongly recommend heading down to your local Jaycar store.

That's pretty sweet, but i'm totally a diy retard. Do they provide installation as well?

they do not do installations, however they should be able to recommend you to a local auto electrician as like yourself, not everyone is a DIY person.

Don't forget you need to buy a 2 din dash kit to fit the double din into your dash...

I have dealt with Ryda a couple of times, Cronulla Car Sound and also FHRX Studios. All these guys have given me great support over the years. FHRX do some good custom work I am sure they could do something to minimise the sub taking up boot space.
