I'm under the impression that he is going to insure his/her car under his/her parents name to avoid paying higher insurance amounts.

Therefore just clarifying whether it is possible for his/her parents to have more then the one car registered to there name.

they could have both, 5 in each name so up to like 15 cars lol, you wouldn't have time to drive all of them. you wouldn't even need to register them, might as well collect them. i honestly think that 2 cars is enough for one person. daily - to work and back and to do certain tasks, cheap fuel, service etc. and then a weekender which should be fun in every way.

i prefer just to have the one car for both

There isn't really a limit on how many you sell as long as you don't look suspicious.

There is no limit of cars you're allowed to sell, but once you have sold 5 cars that is under your name, Government likes to tax you because they think you're some sort of a dealer.

You'd own 5 or more cars because you'd want to make money.

By buying a car dirt cheap and fixing it up and selling it for more.

There is no limit to ownership here, one of my friend has 13 cars, I personally own 6.
If you own more than 5 or so cars, you can get the transport dept to put them in your own "fleet" (which basically means you can pay renewals for all of your cars on the same day)

In NSW you are allowed to sell a maximum of three (3) cars without a license in one calendar year. More than three and you are required to apply for a Motor Dealers license. There are no taxes on selling a used car but the buyer pays a percentage of the purchase price, usually 3%. Minimum you can sell a car for is $100. What this means is that if someone gives you a car you have to put "$100" on the transfer form, and you pay $3 in fees.

This is meant to stop individuals from selling cars (in their front yard) on behalf of 2nd Hand Dealers. An individual can own as many cars as they can afford - remember you don't have to have them all registered to own them.

I currently own seven cars and there are nine in our family. Of mine, only three are registered.
