Thread: S2000 Intake.

  1. #1

    S2000 Intake.

looking for an intake at the moment but not sure which one just yet.

main ones i can think of are - mugen - gruppeM - injen.

the main outcome i want is the sound.

was leaning towards the mugen cause of the carbon but yeh... just want to know what else is out their and the price range.

    cheers.

Out of the ones you've listed. Injen is the loudest and is cheapest. All are within a horsepower or 2 for actual performance gains from one another. Gruppe M is a waste of money but looks porn. Intakes are much of a muchness, RAM air (J's, Mugen, Spoon, ASM, Password JDM) intakes apparently make more power, i haven't seen proof of this yet, and long arm (Injen, AEM V2, Fujita) intakes apparently make more torque than RAM intakes, yet to see this on dyno results. Most will only be slightly better than the factory setup, so don't expect big increases from intake.

The main thing JSpec89 wants is sound! Injen is loud (however I haven't heard the other two).

J's Racing hands down. Similar to Mugen but cheaper. Also come with Carbon Oversized intake arm.

I have owned and used both Mugen and J's Intake. Performance wise both are very similar.

mugen not loud, gruppe m has a neat sound a little louder then J's front on, but not as efficient as the J's intake. Lot of money to spent on any carbon intake, considering the gains are weak.

cheers for the replies.. to be honest i want the sound, i know an intake isnt a "performance gain".

Just take the lid off your airbox then. It's up there with the loudest and its free..

Out of all the intakes that tested during my ownership of S2000's (Mugen, PRM, AEM V2, STOCK+SPOON DUCT) I liked the AEM V2 the best! In terms of 'performance' they all felt the same? Sound wise the AEM V2 was the loudest and bang for buck.

The PRM from the states sounds awesome but no one in Oz imports them I think so you would have to order direct.

shorter intake pipe targets high-end RPM, longer intake pipe targets low-end RPM
