Can you communicate with the S300 with no dramas?

It's very straight forward, activate it, set the parameters and upload it.

im pretty sure you need a switch on your clutch pedal connected back to the ECU, so the ECU knows when to launch the car

Na you don't Ecu man. Well I think you can, but don't need. Its just a ignition and fuel cut at a pre-determined rpm. Theres are however number of settings.

OP, see below. What have you got the Launch Activation set to? Always on? If its Always on launch control is alway activated, and will work when below the pre-determined vehicle speed.

you need to first of all install clutch switch, then it needs to be configured in software.

You don't NEED a clutch switch as I said above. Mine was set as above. 'Always on', therefore anything below 10kph would activate launch control. Depends what the OP is trying to do, as yet he hasn't got back yet.

^ I can back this up, have had launch control set to always on and for it to be active as long as the vehicle is under 10km/h , set my desired rpm and works all day every day if I wanted it to
